I stared the man, confused. "Wha-" I began.
"Shush," he says, putting a finger to my lips. "Let me answer your first question." I nodded, then he smiled and took his finger away.
"The question then," I said, "How did you get here?"
"Like I said before, it was really simple. The girl, what was her name, Adele? Ariana? Addie? What was it?"
"Adaline," I cut in.
"Ah, Adaline! Lovely girl." He exclaimed. "You see, she is a Dreamer too, and a powerful one at that. I stowed away inside of her when she came to Somewhere, her power shielded me." I gaped,
"But why do you want to come to Somewhere!? There's nothing here for you!"
"Well, of course there is!" He exclaimed, "All the Dreamers are here, like you." He smiled creepily then lunged at me. I shrieked, and blacked out. The last thing I saw was his dark, red eyes.
MABEL'S POV
I looked around quickly, searching for my friend. "Everleigh," I called, "Where are you?" I heard rustling, and whipped my head around frantically, my eyes widening. "H-hello? Who's th-there?" My lip quivered, "A-are you gonna hurt me?" I stuttered. Then Everleigh stepped out from the trees.
"Oh, Mabel! I am so sorry for scaring you!" She said, kind of methodically.
"Um," I said, "No problem."
"Right then! Where are we going?" She asked. I felt like something wasn't right.
"Well, you told me we were heading to the flower patch where we met."
"Is that so?" She growled
"Of course! This way?" She tilted her head and licked her lips.
"Yes, of course." She sent me a closed mouth smile. I shivered, a cold wind suddenly brushing through the trees. We walked silently, our feet crunching on the leaves below us. Suddenly, Everleigh spoke up.
"So, Mabel," she started, "do you know what I am?" I looked at her noticing for the first time that her usually green eyes were darker, almost black.
"Of course," I exclaimed, "your a Dreamer." She tilted her head,
"Yes, that's right... But what are you?" I sighed, looking down.
"I don't know, you said I was probably a Dreamer, but my mind got stolen."
"Mind got stolen, eh?"
"Yeah, well, she thi-" I just realized my mistake.
"She? You mean me right?" She stared at me with those peircing black eyes.
"Y-yes," I stammered, "That's totally what I meant!" She smirked,
"I don't think so." Then she opened her mouth and screamed and black smoke poured out of her mouth as her eyes turned green. Then they rolled into the back of her head and she collapsed.
"Everleigh!" I screamed, running to her fallen figure. She was deathly pale. I kneeled down and put my hand on her forehead, ice cold. A tear escaped my eye as a leaned over her. Oh Everleigh, I thought, What did that thing do to you?
