I woke to the sound of talking, not loud voices, almost like whispers.  They were walking around the cottage.

At first I thought that the voices were of Cole and Jane, until I realized that Cole had his arms around me.  My heart began to pound in my chest and I moved in closer to Cole.  I could not hear what the voices were saying but I was worried that they were just waiting for us to come out  so they could kill me.

I tapped Cole's arm as best I could without turning over and hurting my side.  He stirred a bit and leaned himself on his elbow,  he began to speak but I put a finger over his mouth and quietly 'shhhed' him.

After a few seconds of confusion he heard the voices and sat up straighter.  I slowly turned over onto my back as we listened to the voices get louder as they came to the door of my cottage.  We moved away from the opening in the floor and we could then hear their conversation.

"We have looked all over the forest for him.  Why not just turn back?  We were told not to come here so the king's daughter may be alone by the beach."  The first one said, he was obviously not the one who wanted to come and check this cottage.  The second one yelled a bit louder at him.

"How could you say that?  We must find the prince.  That thief may have hurt him."  After a while the two of them gave up their search around the cottage and Cole slowly moved to check out the beach before we went to sit on the shore.

The two of us sat in the sand so our feet could be touched by the waves crashing on the sand.  We stayed there for a long time before we heard the cannon sound.  Cole hugged me tighter and whispered in my ear,

"I will not leave you, let them think I am hurt.  I want to stay with you."  I felt myself blush, a tear rushing down my face, and kissed him.  We didn't even hear horse hooves, but we did hear that voice.

"Hey love bugs."  Jane said as she walked up to us.  I inched a small distance from Cole and smiled up at the princess.

"Hello Jane, what are you doing here?  It is very late."

"I could ask the same of my brother." Jane laughed, placing a hand onto his shoulder.  Jane then sat down next to us and spoke the worse news possible.

"I heard that father will be sending a search party out for you tomorrow, and that they will not stray from this spot.  You need to get Jezavette somewhere safe Cole."  I felt Cole tighten his grip on me and I looked out to the dark waters of the sea.

"This is her home.  I cannot rip her from here."  Cole said to his sister, she still insisted.

"Please brother.  She needs to go somewhere safe or she will be arrested, Robert and Todd are leading the search party."

That is what caused me to speak up, "Cole,"  I said turning to face him, "I will be fine leaving, as long as I am with you I will be happy."  Cole looked out to the sea and then back at me, his eyes unchanging.

"I have a better idea."  He said to us, I was a bit worried.

After telling us that he had a plan he forced Jane to go home.  He said it would be safer for her to be at the castle when it happened than down here on the beach.  Cole came back inside the cottage with me and we sat up in the top of the lighthouse.

I don't remember falling asleep but I found myself waking up in my bed.  Cole was there, smiling in his sleep.  I didn't want to wake him so I slowly moved my body and went down into the kitchen.
