I watched Jeza go limp in my arms and I panicked.  I grabbed her and slung her over my lap as I got on Bailey.  I flicked her reins and she took off running.

We made it to Asaba in a few minutes and I slowly trotted Bailey over to the hospital that my brother-in-law, Lewis, works at.  When I went in the door, Jane was sitting down in the front chair.  Her eyes filled with confusion and fear as she came over to examine Jeza.

"What happened to her Cole?" Jane asked as she looked into Jeza's eyes for a sign of life.  I told her the truth, Jane just looked at me and then called for someone to come and help her.  A small woman came out and she cried out in fear.  I looked at the woman's face and saw that it was Carrie.

Jane and Carrie took Jeza from my arms and into a room.  I knew if someone found me here, Jeza would be captured.

So I took off running.  I ran all the way to the castle and up into my room, not stopping for anyone or anything.  I got inside my bedroom and sat down on my bed.

My mother was the first one to find me.

"Cole, what is the matter dear?  You have been acting strange lately."  She wrapped her arms around me and rubbed my back.

I put my head in my hands, "Mom, my life doesn't make any sense."  My mother didn't say anything and hugged me.  I moved into her like I used to do when I was a young boy and she would come and help me escape from nightmares.  But now my life is the nightmare and I don't think anyone can help me from this.

"Jane told me about her."  My mother's words shocked me and I lifted my head to look at her, she was sincere.  "I promise I will not tell your father but your brothers must have found out because they chased after you in the woods the other day to see where you went.  Why didn't you tell me about this girl any sooner son?"

I could tell the secret hurt my mother so I put my arm around her fragile shoulders,  "I would have, once it was safe to be with her."

After the conversation with my mother, I went for a walk through the castle.  I walked down the corridors that no one but the servants use, the hallways I used to hide in from my brothers.  I walked right into the kitchen and sat down in the chair next to the head chef, Amy.  She was always nice to me and never kicked me out of the kitchen when I was younger seeing how I never disrupted any of the cooking like Robert and Todd did when they came in here.

"What's got you down boy?"  She asks me once I sit down.  Her voice is a mixture of sweetness and sternness.  She was always a second mother to me when mine was no where to be found.

I told her everything, now only she, my mother, and Jane know about her.

Amy looked down at me and tapped my head with a wooden spoon, "Cheer yourself up some boy.  At least your wedding with that Ashley girl is off.  Maybe you can marry this Jezavette instead.  Your father will listen to you and approve the second he sees her with you, I am sure of it."  I sat there listening to her as she cut numerous vegetables for dinner tonight.

While the kitchen was busy with work, the double doors swung open with a speed only one person I know has......my father.  He looked all around the kitchen until he spotted me and stormed through the kitchen staff to get to me.

Amy stopped him quickly when he reached us, "Sir, do these look well enough to serve tonight at dinner?"  My father stopped to inspect the food on the cutting board.
