The Sorting

I own nothing and no one apart from 'the pheonix girl ' and maybe a few other characters I might create.

Cassy Dumbledore P. O. V

It was finally the day! I was officially attending Hogwarts and not just because of Uncle Albus-I mean Professor Dumbledore was related to me. I couldn't wait to get some new friends.
I walked with Professor McGonnagal to collect the first years from the boats.
I saw Lily and she waved at me. I waved back as McGonnagal started a speech that I had heard many times. Then we went off towards the great hall.
The sorting hat started to sing. I noticed Mum sitting (perching) up at the high table. Then the sorting started. I tuned out until I heard
"Chapman Lucy."
"Hufflepuff!"
It was a 'C' surname and 'D' was after so....
"Dumbledore Caridsa-" I smiled at Professor McGonnagal because my name was confusing.
"Call me Cassy." I told her. Everyone stared at me because I had interupted McGonnagal who looked ammusedly at me. I went to sit on the stool and put the hat on my head.
"Ah, a Pheonix Child." the hat whispered in my ear. "I have not had a Pheonix Child in thousands of years. You are loyal could be a Hufflepuff. Smart could be a Ravenclaw. Cunning could even be in Slytherin and very brave you could be a Gryfindoor. But where to put you? I think you yearn to follow in the footsteps of Albus. Yes? The hat asked me.
"GRYFINDOOR!" It yelled out to the whole hall.
I went to sit on the table that was cheering and listened and cheered for the rest of the sorting. Lily Evans was sorted into Gryfindoor and sat next to me. When the sorting was over everyone started talking about their families. Lily was just telling me about her muggle parents and 'annoying sister' when we were interupted by two very loud boys called James Potter and Sirius Black.
"You aren't very lucky Black when it comes to family are you?" The boy called James said.
"No." Sirius shouted back. "All my family, apart from me now, are all anoying and in Slytherin. My cousin Bellatwit is the worst." He said.
Suddenly Fawkes flew over to my shoulder and every Gryfindoor eye was on me.
"What?" I said defensively.
"Well," James spoke to me like it was obvious. "A very large pheonix that has just been sitting on Dumbledore's shoulder has flown over to you, ignoring the good looking boys." He said indicating himself.
"Well James, this is Fawkes. Dumbledore is my great uncle and considering we live in the same place. Fawkes and I know each other quite well." I said, using the same tone as him.
"Well done for getting into Gryfindoor, Honey." said Fawkes in my ear.
I smiled and saw James and Sirius still looking at me.
"What?" I said again.
"Nothing Dumbledore." They said in unison. "and who are you?" They asked Lily. It was obvious that James liked her.
"I'm Lily Evans." Lily said. And Uncle- Professor Dumbledore stood up at told us all to go to bed.
I found that I was in the same dorm as Lily and we both smiled, then I groaned because we were also with a group of giggly girls. Lily liked them though and I just pretended to smile. When we went into the dorms we saw Jason my Pheonix. I had decided to call my familiar Jason because in Greek, Jason meant healer and pheonix tears have healing powers.
All the girls apart from Lily ran over to him and started trying to stroke him. I sensed his discomfort and held out my arm to him. He flew to me and I turned to face the others.
"Me and my familiar are going for a walk." I said.
"Your familiar?" one of them said. "Lucky, my familiar is an owl." Another girl said.
I walked out into the common room which was mostly empty. I saw four boys one was James and one was Sirius but the other two I didn't know.
I went to sit with them on the sofa.
"Hello." I said. They were all to busy staring at Jason.
"Hey Dumbledore." Sirius said and they all looked at me.
"My name isnt Dumbledore" I growled "Who are you guys?" I asked the two boys that I hadn't seen before. One of them who was short and a little plump squeaked "Peter Pettigrew." and the other boy who looked tireder and cleverer than the rest muttered something like "Reme Lupe" in a tired voice.
"Dumbledore, is that bird yours?" James asked. I snapped.
"My name is not Dumbledore it is.... Cassy." I snarled.
"Right Dumbledore." Sirius laughed. "I'm going to bed." He said and James stood up as well. "Goodnight Dumbledore." James said and the other two walked after them. I snarled at their backs and turned away.
"They are irritating Jason," I said. "What should I do?" I asked him.
He laughed and said "best friend, I think they deserve a prank." He said. I laughed and started plotting what I would do. I grinned and waited until they would all be asleep....
