I wake up to just in time to see the sun rising. As I watch, something peculiar comes into my mind. Fear. I have truly not been afraid of anything for a while, but today I am afraid. Today is reaping day. I am not only scared about that, but for my sister Emily as well. Each year, we have something called The Hunger Games. Each district is forced to give two of our children- one boy and one girl- to participate in these heart wrenching games. They fight to the death in a arena, and there is only one victor. Occasionally, there is a slight rule change, and there can be two victors, but they both have to be in the same district. This was a great advantage for Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen, District 12's tributes; a few years back. They managed to start an rebellion, and they killed Panem's president, Cornelius Snow, in the process. He had a 37 year old son, Michael Snow. He then became president, and took control of Panem. District 13 was destroyed once again, and we were forced to pay more attention to the Capitol. Our district, District 5, has to give up two children today. And I won't let Emily be one of them.
