Chapter Seven

I watch the Careers come together and meet each other for the first time. Amethyst, the girl from District One, who has these ice blue eyes and golden blonde hair. Flint is her district partner, and he looks exactly like her. It's possible they are related. The girl from Districts Four and Two are named Blair and Sabrina. The boys Augustus, the District Two boy, shakes hands with Amethyst. You can clearly see that he is infatuated with her.
Sebastian, the District Four boy, looks around fourteen to fifteen years old. I watch as they start to train. Amethyst manages to shoot an arrow, and it hits the arm. The edge of the target. I watch Blair throw knives and she doesn't miss once. Clove, the girl tribute from District Two in the 74th Hunger Games, was Blair's older sister. Blair  looks almost identical to the way Clove did. I watch them train for a bit. I went to the knife station after Blair left. I watched them as they watched me.
I take the knife, and throw it. It practically flicks past my arm, and hit the target.

Bullseye. The silence in the room is almost terrifying. What I fear most is that Blair is now after me because I've stolen her spotlight. I turn towards the careers. Flint is surprised, Amethyst is smirking, Augustus is glaring at me, Sebastian is shocked, and Sabrina is also shocked.
My fears confirm the worst. Blair takes a knife, walks towards me, and says," Pretty, little, Cassandra. Smart girl. You're mine in the arena." "What if I get to your first, Clair?" I ask. "It's Blair, stupid." She takes the knife and she is about cut my throat. I squeal and kicks her in the stomach. "What the f--" she doesn't finish her sentence because she is taken by a peacekeeper from behind. She lets out a scream. "Let me go! Please! I wasn't going to hurt her I swear! Please! Ple-" She is taken out of the room. The door slams. I expect the Careers to attack me as well, but instead they start clapping. "Well done, Cassandra,", Amethyst says. "Do- do you want to join our career group?", Sebastian almost yells. I take a deep breath and look at them. I know I'll never get along with Blair, so I turn to them. "Sorry guys...it's just that I'll never get along with Blair.." Augustus starts to crack up. This is a show where we have to kill each other, Cassandra. Of course you too will never get along, you'll both probably be dead by the end of the Games! And don't tell Blair I said that." I turn towards Ian. He's shaking his head. "I'll join your career group of Ian can," I say. "He is very good at welding axes." Augustus sighs. "Fine." I practically squeal on the inside.  We train for another hour before Blair is brought back. She's glaring at me, like I've done the worst thing in the world. My fear is coming back. This girl is dangerous. For my sake, and everyone else's.
