Surprise?

Raven's POV

I woke up with bright lights in my eyes. It took a few blinks for my vision to clear up. When my vision cleared up, I noticed a black box in my hands. I read the note on top of the box: "Hope you enjoy your present. Happy birthday. Dave."

That's when I realize what today was. November 10. My 17th birthday. Mindy's birthday.

I opened the box and gasped at what was inside. It was a Silver Plated Green Swarovski Crystal Love Heart Four Leaf Clover Necklace. It looked so beautiful. It couldn't have come from Dave. It couldn't have.

I felt lines on the back, so I turned the Clover over and looked at the back. There was engraving on the back. It said: "To my best friend in the Galaxy. I love you buddy. Dave. "

It was very heartfelt and beautiful. I put the box down and clamped the necklace around my neck. It fit perfectly. It was the right size.

Soon after that, Dave woke up. He smiled sleepily, looking at the necklace. I looked to the right of the room and saw Dave's X-rays on the wall.

Holy shit! Dave had like over 20+ metal plates in his body. How bad did he get hurt?

Out of the blue, my phone vibrated, signaling a text message. I took out my phone and checked the time. 4:30 am. Who sends a text at 4:30 am? I opened the text:

"Hey Raven. Happy dual birthday! Wanna get some breakfast before Damon wakes up? Mindy. "

I looked over at Dave and saw that he went back to sleep. I texted Mindy back.

" Sure. I'm on my way there now. See u soon. Happy birthday! "

Getting out of the bed quietly , I wrote Dave a note saying to meet me at Atomic Comics after school and left to go pick up Mindy. I stopped by my house to get Mindy's present and drove to their house.

By the time I got to the house, Mindy was standing in front of the house. She was wearing a pink jacket with blue jeans and sneakers. She saw me and got into the car. When she put her seat belt on, I gave her her present. She opened it and gasped. It was a necklace that had the words Mindy in cursive. She smiled and hugged me tightly. After she put it on, I started the car and drove to Dunkin' Donuts. We bought one coffee, two hot chocolates and 6 egg and sausage sandwiches, 2 for each of us.

On the way back, I told Mindy about Dave and his whole Kick-Ass persona. She gave me a questioning look and laughed after. She laughed even harder when I told her I had to help him train. After she calmed down, she recommended some exercises to try with him. Like he would ever do them.

When we got back to the house, we entered the house and walked to the kitchen/weaponry. Mindy put the code into the keypad and we entered the room to see Damon sketching in a comic book.

He looked to his left and saw us entering with food. "Well hey early birdies. Awwwww. You beat me to it. I wanted to get you breakfast this morning. Happy birthday sweetheart." He gave us both a high five. He then handed us both a bit gift wrapped box. "Check this out." We both tore off the wrapping and put it on the table. We unanimously opened our boxes and gasped at the contents inside. There were two butterfly knives and two Max the Mini axe kit in each of our boxes.

Mindy jumped and hugged Damon. "Oh thank you,thank you, thank you! Oh my God! Dad!"

Mindy picked up the knife, opening it while I twirled the axe around.

Mindy looked at the blade. "Wow. Watch dad." She then did tricks with the knife.

Damon asked. "Okay pop quiz. What's the proper name for one of those?"
