Chapter 4: What's Wrong

Normal point of view.....

Ivan was holding Beverly close to him. Mikhail stood by his side. He would call her name out to her but, she wouldn't respond. His sisters came to see Beverly. The queen looked very worried for Beverly.

The King walked up to him. "Ivan. Take her to her room. I'll send the Royal Physicians over there," he said to him. Ivan lifted Beverly in bridal style and made his way to her room. Everyone moved over for him to walk through the ballroom.

Once in her room, he place her on her bed. He looked at Mikhail. "What's taking the Royal Physicians so long to get here?" he said to him in a bit of anger. "Calm down Your Royal Highness. I'm sure that they are on their way," Mikhail assured him.

The Royal Physicians came into the room. "I will need everyone to leave the room," the lead Royal Physician said to them. Ivan was reluctant to leave Beverly. He kissed her on the forehead and left the room with Mikhail.

Ivan made his way to his room. He walked inside to see Snieg and Urey making their way to him. Ivan pet their heads and walked over to the couch. He sat down and started to pray for Beverly. Mikhail stood next to him.

They had gone through so many obstacles.

knock....knock....

Ivan looked at the door. "Mikhail. Open the door," he ordered him. Mikhail walked over to the door and opened it to reveal the Royal Physicians. Ivan stood up and walked over to them while they walked into the room.

"How is she?" he asked them. "We have something to discuss wit you in private," the lead Royal Physician said to him. "In my office," Ivan said to them. They made their way out of the room and to his office.

Beverly's point of view......

I felt very weak. I felt not much strength in me to move my muscles. I couldn't move at all. {What happen to me?} I tried to remember what had happen. I remembered being next to Ivan in the ball room when the king was making the announcement.

I opened my eyes weakly to see that I was in my room. {Where's Ivan?}

I heard the door open. I looked over to see that it was Ivan. He quickly walked over to my side. He sat on the bed and took my hand. He caressed my cheek with his other hand. "How are you feeling?" he asked me.

I could see that he was worried about me. "Tired," I said in a whisper. He gave me a nod. I felt him squeeze my hand. "What happened?" I asked him weakly. I saw a frown form on his face. {Is it that bad?}

"The King was announcing our engagement until you collapsed to the ground. I managed to catch you before you fell. I carried you to your room and waited for the Royal Physicians to arrive," he explained to me.

"What's wrong with me?" I asked him. Before he could say anything, the Royal Physicians came into the room. The lead Royal Physician walked over to us. "Hello. How are you feeling?" the lead Royal Physician asked me.

"Very tired," I said to him. "Have you been feeling dizzy lately?" he asked me. I gave him a nod. "When did it start?" he asked me. "About....a week ago," I replied to him. He wrote something on his clipboard.

"Has your vision become blurry at times?" he asked me. "Yes," I said to him. "What's wrong with her?" Ivan asked him. "I do not dare to say Your Royal Highness but, I believe that she is extremely ill. It could be from stress or it could be part of the aftermath of her being in explosion a year ago," the Royal Physician said to him.

"What do you mean part of the aftermath?" Ivan asked him. "According to her toxicity report from last year, right after the explosion, she had traces of arsenic in her system. It can cause a person to be tired and can cause blurry vision if the arsenic is not cleared in the system," the lead Physician explained to him.

I felt Ivan squeeze my hand. "She is going to be tested isn't she?" Ivan said to him. "Yes, sir. I will need a blood test to be sure. For now, she will need to rest and eat properly. Usually, people with arsenic poisoning lose their appetite," he explained to him.

"Alright. Do what you have to do," Ivan said to him. The lead Royal Physician took some of my blood in a vile to check to see if I had arsenic in my blood. After a while, the Royal Physicians left the room. Ivan looked at me.

"I am needed at my office. The Prime Minister and his daughter will be there. They want to discus about some projects," he said to me. I gave him a nod. He leaned down and gave me a kiss on the forehead.

"I'lll come back as soon as the meeting is over. I'll have Mikhail watch over you," he said to me. "Okay," I said to him. He gave my hand one last squeeze and walked over to the door. He opened the door and gave me one last look.

I could see that he was hesitant to leave me. I gave him a weak smile. He gave me a smile back and closed the door behind him. I closed my eyes to get some rest.

Next day......

News has gotten out that I was extremely ill. The reason was not given out to the public yet. Many believed that I may be pregnant with an heir but, the palace knew that I wasn't at all. Some say that I may have been poisoned.

There was going to be a press conference today. Ivan was going to tell the press about my condition. Only a few major new reporters were going to be allowed inside the fortress to get an interview from Ivan.

The Royal Physicians would check on me ever few hours. They set their equipment in my room. Ivan didn't want me to be at the hospital. He thought that I wouldn't be comfortable after having to have gone to the hospital many times.

My brother Brent had been notified about my condition and he was on his way to the fortress with his wife Lana. I had heard that Lana was pregnant with twins. I was happy for them. They had said nothing about my parents.

It was the afternoon and I was laying on my bed. Urey and Snieg were in my room to keep me company. They turned into my guard wolves. They were very protective to me seeing how weak I was to do anything.

I woke up from one of the lady in waitings who was turning on the flatscreen television. She looked at me. "Oh sorry my lady but, the press conference is starting soon," she said to me. I gave her a tired nod.

She helped me sit up from my bed and left the room to give me some privacy. Urey and Snieg sat at the foot of the bed. I saw that the press conference was being held in one of the rooms in the fortress. Usually, it would have been held outside but, it was snowing.

Soon, I saw Ivan walking into the room with the Prime Minister and his daughter Polina. She looked a bit to close to Ivan though. While Ivan walked up to the podium, I watched the Prime Minister and Polina sitting down on their seats.

The next thing that I saw on the screen was concerning to me. I saw the Prime Minister nudging his daughter to stand next to Ivan. She gave her father a nod and walked up next to Ivan. They were a bit close to my comfort.

I looked at the Prime Minister's eyes. I saw greed in them. His eyes reminded me of Sofia.
