7 : shifting dynamics

As the call ended, Taehyung had a sweet smile that was stubborn enough to retain on his lips. They decided to meet at the café she was working in the evening. He still didn't knew how to progress things. It was all new to him. But he just wanted to spend his time with her.

However that might be. He just wanted to see her. He had a pretty hectic day today and what else would make him more relaxed than finally seeing her?

With continous meeting through the morning with some of the members of the council of the palace, he was tired. The meeting was held secretely without being known to the king and the queen.

It was a meeting to discuss some policies regarding the palace and its rules. Taehyung wanted to be thorough with everything before he took the next step in his plan. The plan being escaping this life which felt no less than a cage.

Y/N, was the reason he had again found his footing. He never wanted to disappoint his parents however they treated him. That thought had always held him back. But somehow, he was realising now that he couldn't please everyone in his life. He wanted to live his own way this time.

With newfound excitement that surged through his body, he made his way to the bathroom to get freshen up and meet Y/N. It was as if she had entered his life like a beam of sunshine. So radiant was her smile that made him drown more.

On the other end of the door, unbeknownst to Taehyung, his mother stood with a slightly shocked expression on her face. She had came to give him his lunch because he had missed it.

The dining table had his empty spot as usual as the king and queen ate their lunch with their son's absence as always. It was a common occurance.

What was not a common occurence was his mother coming to serve his lunch instead of some maid or other worker. The reason being that she wanted to talk to Taehyung about something. Affection for her son was never seen in all the years of his upbringing and this day was no exception.

However, before she could talk to him about what she had to say, she heard him talking on the phone about meeting someone. The interaction wasn't something that felt normal to her. It hinted to something more. Something that seemed like an interaction between his son's love interest.

A few weeks ago, he hadn't come back home for the whole night and she had thought he was just out because he needed some time away. But now, she couldn't help but wonder if this phone call was anything related to that night.

Quietly making her way inside, after giving the plate of food to the maid that stayed outside, she searched for Taehyung. Hearing the sounds coming from the shower, she breathed a sigh of relief and made a beeline for his phone that lay at the table besides his bed.

Luck seemed in her favour as she reached the phone and found it unlocked. With a triumphant smile on her face, she looked for his call history. Their she saw the name saved as butterfly and it cleared all the doubts she had in her mind.

The profile pic showcased a girl who was smiling beamingly. She recognized immediately that the girl was no royal because she had never seen her before. So her son was after a commoner, she thought.

She kept the phone quickly as it was when she heard the sound of the bathroom door clicking and Taehyung stepped out. The moment he saw her mother standing before him, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

"What are you doing here?" He asked, not talking off his gaze from her tensed up body. She smiled reluctantly a little and then gestured for the maid to come in with his lunch.

"I came to give you your lunch, Taehyung", she said and kept the plate on the table nearby. But he wasn't convinced. His mother never came to him without a purpose and he knew it very well.
