Everyone stared in awe at the perfectly dried boy and the soaked one. "Alright, stop staring. It's rude."Percy rolled his eyes and stepped off the boat.
His sea-green eyes scanned the building. Letting out a deep sigh, he followed the half-giant. Slytherins were staring at him in admiration and envy because of his blood status.
"I am Professor Mcgonagall. First years and transfer students wait here."A wrinkly woman with an extremely straight posture and not a hair out of place said in the strictest voice Percy had ever heard.
Percy's eyes were shut tightly as he waited for the professor to return, trying his best to avoid his attention from all the stares and whispers. His knuckles were white from gripping too hard on his pen. It felt like ages until Professor Mcgonagall came back out.
"Follow me."With two simple words, the students trailed behind her without a peep.
Once again, the overwhelming feeling of anxiety took over Percy.
"Look! Poseidon's son isn't all that! He looks like he's about to wet his pants!"A light blonde haired boy yelled from the Slytherin table.
The whole Slytherin table burst out laughing. With a quick and simple flick of Percy's hand, thunder clapped and the whole table, including the students, was soaked in water.
Percy faked a shocked look and covered his mouth. "Oops, looks like I wet your House instead. My sincere apologies."
His words were dripping with obvious sarcasm.
The whole Great Hall laughed at the Slytherins, knowing it was a dumb action to have made fun of a God's son. Dumbledore chuckled slightly before waving his wand and drying the students along with the table.
Professor Mcgonagall cleared her throat, catching everyone's undivided attention. "We'll start with transfer students first."
"Rose, Alexandra."
A slim girl with long and curled strawberry blonde hair that was tied into a ponytail with loose strands here and there walked up to a chair with a tattered old hat. Percy tilted his head as he observed the scene.
"Ravenclaw!"The hat yelled out of nowhere which made Percy jump a little.
"Jackson, Perseus."Professor Mcgonagall said in a clear voice.
The crowd broke out into whispers and chatter, discussing what house he would be best sorted into. He heard majority of them say Gryffindor.
When the hat was placed on top of his head, a voice was heard in his head.
Hm, son of Poseidon. Interesting.
Oh cool, it's not everyday you get to have a hat that is placed on top of your head which speaks and sorts you into a house that is based on your personality in a school full of wizards and witches. But of course, I'm the son of a Sea God, nothing is impossible.
Percy did not realize he had said that out loud. He only knew when the Great Hall laughed once again. Even Snape was smirking in amusement.
You have great humor, Perseus.
Why thank you, kind hat.
Once again he said it out loud and once again the hall chuckled and giggled.
Let's see what we have here. Ah, you went to Tartarus to save your mother from Hades just a few days after you recently found out you were the son of Poseidon, especially when you were in grave danger.
Yeah, I did.
You have a great deal of bravery to belong in Gryffindor and are extremely loyal to friends and family. But even when you did not steal the Lightning Bolt, you took the responsibility to return it and fight Luke Castellan, am I right? Hm, with great power comes great responsibility, as Ben Parker would say.
Dude, you read Spider-Man? You're like officially the coolest hat I've ever met and talked to. Not that I have met or talked to any hat.
The Hall cried with laughter. Percy would definitely make the year brighter.
You're not smart as a Ravenclaw, you're not really smart at all actually.
Gee, thanks. You're so nice.
Well, I do try.
Let's just get this sorting over with, you've been talking for like ten years.
Alright, alright. Better be...
"HUFFLEPUFF!"The hat yelled as loud as he could which nearly burst Percy's eardrums.
Percy's robe turned yellow and black, the colours of his new house. A table from the side had started screaming and cheering. He noticed their clothing colours were similar to his.
Percy was greeted with fist bumps, pats on the backs, high fives, side hugs and a few kisses on the cheek from the girls in Hufflepuff who were carefree.
A wide grin was etched on his face, giving him a boyish look. For the second time, he felt like he belonged.
