A/N: I'm in love with this song okay? I also love Mashton so, here's this. I used part of a prompt I received, thank you so much dear. I already had a lot prewritten otherwise I would have used the whole promt! I love your ideas! Have a good day everyone!
It was five in the morning and Ashton was placing rose petals along the floor, making a path to the patio table outside. Calum watched, bemused at how hard his hot-shot father was trying. Honestly, and the candles were disgusting. He came in holding a plastic bag full of pink and purple candles. TACKY Calum thought, but let Ashton continue.
"I'm sorry if I say I need you, but I don't care, I'm not scared of love..." Ashton hummed, frying eggs and bacon (bleh) on a pan.
"That's pathetic," Calum said finally.
Ashton sighed, "why are you so mad at me?"
"Why shouldn't I be!?" Luke heard yelling and went to see what was happening. Meanwhile Michael was packing a suitcase, ignoring the noise.
"I'm back now. I'll be home for a few weeks. Okay? I'm here for you boys."
"What about your 'manipulative' girl friend? Are you gonna just stand her up?"
"W-what?" Ashton stuttered, clearly taken off guard.
"What? What are you doing?" Michael stammered. The rose petals were neatly placed in their path.
Ashton smirked, "good morning, sunshine." He didn't take note of the suitcase in Michael's hand. Instead he lead him outside where he set out plates for everyone. "I made breakfast! And I bought you something, sit down?" Ashton pleaded.
Giving in, Michael sat down, watching Ashton rush around trying to make the perfect breakfast. The suit he was wearing fit him perfectly. Michael was simply wearing skinny jeans and a t-shirt. Luke and Calum were still in their pajamas.
"Ash-"
"I made everything for you guys. Ohh and I made coffee! I got the creamer you like!" Ashton rushed around to finish up what he started.
Once everything was set out he signaled for everyone to sit down. It was completely silent for the first ten minutes. Michael wasn't moving. He wasn't eating anything.
"Mikey?" Ashton worried.
"This doesn't fix what you did," Michael replied.
"I got you, well me, no- us, I got us something!" Ashton pulled out a black box from his pocket.
Michael sighed. The older man got down on one knee as he turned Michael's chair around.
"Michael Gordon Clifford..." He began feeling awkward under Michael's stare.
..." I love you, more than words or song lyrics can say-""Words and song lyrics are the same thing," Calum interrupted from where he was sitting.
Clearing his throat he started again, "I want to prove to you- prove that our love is still strong. Last night I bought you a new wedding ring. It's real gold, it has today's date and all that sh*t inscribed. So here it is..." Ashton opened the box and took the ring out. Michael's eyes were as wide as saucers.
"Michael, will you remarry me?" Ashton felt so tense. Everything seemed to rely on Michael's response. His chest hurt from the anxiety this was causing.
Suddenly, Michael smirked, "I'll remarry your dumbass."
"THANK YOU!" Ashton jumped onto Michael's lap, his adult senses flying out the window. He ignored the fact that his sons were watching as he planted kisses on Michael's cheek.
"Get off me, you fatass!" Michael shoved Ashton off of him. He landed on the ring in his back pocket.
"Oh! Yeah. I bought my own ring, kinda. It's a promise ring. I had your name inscribed on it. It's silver and yeah. I promise to never leave you or hurt you again. I love you so so much!" Ashton rambled, placing the ring on his left hand.
Calum rolled his eyes. Luke was ignoring the two. They didn't know who to be mad at. Their parents still didn't know that they knew that Ashton cheated, their parents probably thought they were clueless.
Luke knew Ashton and Michael couldn't have as much sëx with them in the house, he didn't completely blame Ashton for cheating like he did. Calum however was mad at the world, but seeing Michael smile did make him feel better.
Acting innocent, Luke asked, "what happened Daddy?" Ashton sent Michael a look of shear terror.
"Nothing, baby boy, we just disagreed on something," Michael replied.
"Oh bullsh*t!" Calum spat. "EVERYONE KNOWS YOU'RE A CHEATER!"
"What?" Ashton played dumb.
"If you don't think Luke and I heard your 'talk' then you're wrong! You disgust me," Calum spat, stalking off towards his room.
Luke was almost in tears. Everything seemed like it was his fault.
"Calum!" Michael went to talk to him.
Luke was taken by surprise when Ashton scooped him up in his arms. "It's alright, nothing to be upset about. Don't cry," Ashton cooed. Luke rubbed his eyes, not believing Ashton one bit.
"Calum I'm sorry you guys heard that. I didn't know you could hear us-"
"Save it! I can't believe you're taking that d*uche back!"
"We're a family." Michael declared, "We don't give up on each other, I know he made a mistake, but I've forgiven him."
"I haven't. He shouldn't be let off this easy. You shouldn't have forgiven him at all!"
Michael sighed, "it was a mistake."
"It was stupid! I can control myself, you can, why can't he?"
Ashton could clearly hear what Calum was yelling. It was only making him and Luke more upset, Luke thinking it was his fault, and Ashton knowing he was wrong.
"I'm going to try to clear things up with Calum. Can you sit here and relax for me?" Luke nodded as he laid against the couch. Ashton went to try to talk to Calum.
"YOU'RE JUST GOING TO BE WALKED ALL OVER LIKE THAT?" Calum yelled. Michael tried to shush him, but the kiwi boy wasn't having it.
"Why are you yelling at Daddy?" Ashton interrupted. Calum gladed at him with so much anger it could almost make Satan look nice.
"He doesn't understand how stupid he is being for letting you walk all over him." Calum spat.
Ashton sighed, "Cheating is wrong, I understand that but-" Ashton started.
"I hate being related to you. I hate you. And yes, I do mean it." Calum hissed as he sped away, leaving his parents very confused.
