As soon as I stepped inside the doorway of my house, I was attacked.

"Hey honey! How was everything at Mason's? I see that he marked you," my mother said, blocking my way upstairs and smiled knowingly.

"Naww, my little girl is growing up! I remember when you still thought boys had cooties, and now you're mated," my dad cooed.

"Oh God! Stop it!! And how did you know I was at Mason's anyway?" I hadn't told them.

My father raised an eyebrow and smirked at me. "The Alpha called, and asked if the girl his son had backed up against the front door was our daughter."

My face heated up and I could tell my cheeks were bright red. Pushing past them, I raced upstairs to my room and locked the door behind me. I leaned against it and slid to the ground. This wasn't me! The real me didn't need a boy, and the real me would never EVER fall for a guy like this, never this fast! Hell no, I'm not doing this anymore. Mason can deal with it because I'm not doing this whole "mates" thing anymore.

WHAT?!

And there we go. That was seriously getting annoying, having Mason in my head all the time.

I know you heard the whole damn thing, Mason. If you try to get me to do anything with you at all, then I will make your life a living hell,

I warned him.

Life without you would be..

I shook my head. Nope. Get out of my head now.

I could sense his pain, but I ignored it.

Cassie, don't do this.

GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

, I screamed at him.

He was quiet after that. I sighed and changed into shorts and a baggy tee, then hopped into bed. I closed my eyes and tried to get comfortable.

It was impossible. I tossed and turned for a while before I felt the bed dip behind me and an arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me to the things chest. Suddenly too tired to question anything, I drifted off into a dreamless sleep.

When I woke up, I was snuggled against someone's chest. They smelled really good. I closed my eyes again and just listened to their steady heartbeat.

"Good morning, beautiful," a familiar voice whispered in my ear. I was suddenly very awake.

"Mason! What the heck! Why are you here?! How did you get in here?! GET OUT," I screeched when I looked to see Mason staring at me with his ocean eyes...

I snapped out of it after a split second and pushed him. But the stupid oaf was so big that he dind't even budge. I kept trying, alternating between punches, slaps, and shoves but he only grabbed my wrists in his hands and kept a firm grip on them and he pulled me closer and rested his chin on the top of my head. My wolf wanted him so bad right now, but there was no possible way I was going to do what she wanted.

"Get..off me," I mumbled, still trying to create space between us. This was getting irritating and I was getting pissed. I could feel my body shaking already, and if he didn't get off soon then he was getting a paw to the face.

He felt me shaking though, and in a flash he was on the other side of my room.

"Cassie. Calm down. I'll leave, just calm down," he said in a low voice.

I shook my head, it was too late to calm down. I ran towards my window, which was always left open, and jumped out just in time to shift into a small chocolate brown wolf with light brown patches. I landed flat on my paws and took off into the forest that was behind our house. I was glad that shifting didn't hurt after the first time. Oh my God, the first time was like someone was taking your bones and breaking them, one by one, then put them back together the wrong way.

I forgot about that quickly as I sped through the trees, barely missing a couple trunks here and there. I stopped when I reached our pack's territory border and sat a couple feet away from the border. I noticed a scent that was slightly familiar, and started backing away.

Why was the other Alpha partrolling the border? He never did; always sent the lower members of his pack to do the errand. I'd only seen him before once or twice, but that was enough for us to make an impression on eachother. My eyes arrowed as I hid in the shadows, my fur helping camouflage me. The only thing that would alert him of my presence would be my scent, but I couldn't help that. I waited as he came closer.

When he was in sight, I froze and crouched down in the foilaige. He was a nutorious Alpha, only 19 but already having killed off numerous rouges and a reputation that no one wanted to mess with. And it would be just my luck that he had taken a liking to me after he caught me on his side of the border a couple times. I knew he wasn't mated yet, but he seemed to think he could chose his own mate, despite our nature.

The black wolf approached the border, sniffing the air suspiciously. I slowly started to take a step back when I stepped on a twig. The noise echoed through the empty woods and his head snapped in my direction and his eyes found mine instantly.

crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap, crap.....

He growled threateningly at me and started coming closer until he was five feet away from me, on the edge of the territory line. I crouched down as my ears flattened against my head and let out a low warning growl. The Alpha seemed to smirk at me, his green eyes laughing. I stepped back agian, worried that it might come to a fight. He was huge but I had the advantage of speed, and even if it wasn't much it was something.

The wolf turned slowly, and walked behind a tree. A few moments later, the Alpha walked out in human form, wearing nothing by a pair of track pants. His short black hair was tousled and spiked up a bit in the front, and he wore a smirk on his lips. He took a step closer, his hands up in a sign of peace.

"Hey there, Cass. How ya' doin babe?" He was slouching, his hands in his pockets. I looked at him and went to find one of the bundles of clothes I kept hidden around there. I found one, picked it up in my mouth, then went back and chaged behind a tree. When I walked back into veiw, the Alpha let out a low whistle.

"Stop it. I don't even know you," I snapped at him. I didn't evem know his name and he was whistling at me?

"Name's Casey. Nice to meet ya'. And why should I stop? I'm just showing my appriciation," he said, making an outline of my curves with his hands in front of him.

"I-I have a mate. You can't do that," I argued, irritated that I used that excuse. It had slipped out of my mouth without warning.

"You do, do you? Well then, that changes everything," he said with a menacing step closer. "Where is he? Don't I get to meet him?" I was still stepping backwards as he stalked towards me. I kept walking until I was stuck between a tree and him. In a split second, he was pressing me to the tree with his body, and I started to panic, my breathing getting heavy. I just stared at him as he leaned closer and kissed my neck.

"What's the matter?," he whispered huskily in my ear, nibbling on my earlobe. "Scared of the big bad wolf?"
