MASON'S POV
He was an idiot to think his plan was going to work. The chances of Cassie escaping before she was hurt were extremely minimal. But did that matter? Of course not. Not that it would, though. Casey wasn't mated to her.
"Neither are you," Kieran scoffed loudly in a thick Irish accent.
I glared at the youngest of Casey's four cousins, all of whom were supposed to be arriving before the week ends. They were all wolves, but they had something extra, a "gift". Casey's was fighting, Kieran's was hearing your thoughts and Elijah was the only other cousin I'd been introduced to. No one would tell me what his gift was.
"Stop that," I hissed at Kieran. "Stay out of my head!"
His only reply was an arrogant smirk, which only irritated me further. I was starting to growl at him, but my voice was suddenly cut off, like I was put on mute.
What the hell?
I looked around, as if to find what caused this, and found Elijah staring intently at me. He quickly broke his stare after that, and only moments later I found my voice again.
Could his gift be controlling people?
Kieran snorted. "As if we're going to tell you!"
I groaned. Where was Cassie?
"Upstair with Casey," he taunted.
I didn't know how many of his smart ass comments I could take.
"Naww, is the little pup gettin' a tad angry?"
That was fast. One more comment, apparently.I stood quickly, sending my chair toppeling over backwards, and before Kieran or Elijah could react, sprinted upstairs and followed Cassie's scent to Casey's room. I heared noises inside, so I threw the door open, expecting the worst.
What I found was Cassie, weeping, and Casey, his arms locked protectively around her. His head snapped up instantly when he heard my enter the room, and Cassie was too upset to notice me. My arms itched to be wrapped around her; to be in his place. Casey growled warningly at me, but I didn't budge.
The growl startled Cassie, who looked up and around until her hazel eyes rested on me. They were rimmed in red and slightly puffy, with three emotions were swimming in them. Suspicion, worry, and...anger?
"What are you doing in here?" she snarled at me.
"Woah! Hey, I was just coming to see if you were okay I did-"
"Do I look okay Mason? This is your fault! Your fault that he's after me, your fault that he knows where I am!" she growled, getting off the bed and walking menacingly towards me.
