All Might was a dead man walking, this was something he had known and accepted for the last 6 years now.
He had never once believed in things such as destiny or fate. He wasn't arrogant enough to believe it was anything more than chance that Nana had stumbled across him and everything that followed up until the point he had meet sir Nighteye. The man was an impressive hero, no one could deny that and despite the man's required taste of a personality he was a valued alley and friend.
However what always got under All MIght's skin was that acted like he knew better then everyone else and wouldn't accept any challenge to his orders or warnings. Yes Foresight was an astounding quirk but just because he saw something, didn't mean it was set in stone.
It was one of the reasons he had forbidden the Foresight hero from ever using his quirk on the number 1 hero.
All Might wasn't afraid to die, never had been. He knew the risk of being a hero, especially one that had the power of One For All and the obligation that came with it. And as th years went on and he accomplished more and more of what he had dreamed of doing. All Might would be able to accept his death as long as he brought the devil in human skin with him.
That's why lead him to the fight he had been preparing for almost his entire life.
There were many things he had been expecting during the fight, taunts towards his failures, mentions of Nana and the previous users failures to stop him, his plans for controlling Japan before eventually turning his gaze towards the rest of the world.
None of that, All For One said nothing even remotely close to that. In fact All Might struggled to even remember a single word the ancient villain had said. All Might had barely gotten his greeting out before All For One attacked. The man was nothing like he was before with Nana. With Nana he was taking his time, enjoying the fight while making it clear that he could end the fight at any time.
Not this time, This time All Might had to give it his all just to avoid getting slaughtered. The fight was long and argueus and the longer it went on the more unnerved All Might became by his nemesis and the ferocity the villain was emitting.
Still after a long and brutal fight, that left him on the brink of death All Might managed to land a the final blow and finally put an end to All For One once and for all.
Or at least, that's what he thought at the time.
The next few days All Might could only recall in blurs. Being found in the wreckage or the fight, being rushed to a hospital and doctors scramming and rushing around frantically. Gran Tarino sitting at his bedside talking about anything that came to his mind and just waiting for him to wake up.
However it was the first thing he see when he fully wake up that upset him. Sir Nighteye standing above him, a look of horror and denial on his face as the foresight hero stumbled back until he pushing himself against the wall.
All Might knew immediately what his sidekick had done and the man didn't try to deny it. Instead he told them exactly what he saw. With in the later half of a decade All Might, a shell of his former self would face a villain that would defeat and kill him in a gruesome and horrific way before immediately starting on about finding a successor that could cary on his legacy as well as someone to pass One For All on to.
The argument that followed was the last time he had spoken to Nighteye and the only thing he really got from it was that his death would come somewhere between 6 to 10 years.
And All Might had accepted this which is why he pushed himself even when everyone was telling him to take it easy. He didn't believe in fate but Nighteye's predictions were never wrong and All Might had no reason to believe this one would be wrong either.
