A/N: As decided by the majority of you, this is part one of the final chapter! I'll do my best to get the rest out to y'all when I can! I have a lot more on store!
Thanks for your feedback and patience with me!
Braxton can't stop looking at her. He watches her sigh in relief as she inhales the familiar woodsy scent of their home. The way her eyes flutter closed as she takes the time to consume it. She softly releases her long breath before opening her eyes again, a wave of relief seems to wash over her.
He wonders what she's thinking, wanting to inquire, only for her to pull his arm from around her. He and the boys watch as she moves to the couch and slumps onto it. Aesir giggles, making his way over and bouncing excitedly at her side. Maybe a little too close to her face, though she doesn't seem to mind.
Aesir's amusement has Tre bouncing, too, the quiet baby softly giggling as he stares down at their Mama. Behind him, their staff start to bring in her things from the plane. Her escort looks to Braxton, curious as to where he should put her luggage. Lucy sits up from her place on the couch, peering at them and ready to dismiss them. Though Braxton beats her to it, linking the men to bring it all upstairs to their room. Knowing his wife, she'd have them leave it by the door for her to haul up there later.
The men nod and make their way up without any resistance. Lucy watches them for a moment before lying back as she was on the couch. Braxton wants to say something, but finds it difficult to conjure the right thing for the moment. He's been waiting to see her here again for so long now; he wants to say the right things.
She's entertaining Aesir's ramblings about all the things she missed. The boy steals Braxton's inquiry before he can ask, wondering, "Are you tired, Mama?"
She smiles and gives him a slight shake of the head, her hand gently caressing his cheek. Despite her response, she does appear quite weary. "I'm just happy to be home," she says softly.
"Luna! It's so good to see you again. It's been too long!" Their servants approach her on the couch, Faye leading them all. Braxton hadn't ever seen them look so giddy, the few of them all wearing eager smiles.
Lucy sits up to greet them, and they all bow their heads at her before Freya, Faye's second hand, speaks up, "We've prepared you a brunch, ma'am."
"Oh, thank you," Lucy starts, a bit flustered. "You all really didn't have to, I—"
Faye comes around to help her to her feet. "Of course we did ma'am! It's only right to welcome back our beloved Luna."
Lucy looks between them, her bashful smile growing. It makes Braxton's heart swell at the sight. "You're all too kind. Please send the kitchen my thanks."
"It was Alpha Anderson's idea, ma'am," Faye enthuses to her. Suddenly Braxton feels a bit flustered, hoping that the sudden heat he feels rising to his face isn't visible. He's not used to feeling so awkward, but with so many eyes — especially those copper ones — on him...
"He insisted we make all your favorites. We've just finished setting up in the garden."
Lucy nods along to her words, but her gaze is locked on Braxton, still. Aesir takes her hand and pulls her to the sunroom, bouncing as he tugs her along. Braxton smiles at his wife's gentle laughter, the surge of warmth in her eyes. Atreus gurgles impatiently in his arm. He puts his little fingers in his mouth, gnawing where his teeth have yet to come in. Since Lucy's been gone, he's definitely bit his hand a few times by now. The little tike is still getting used to having teeth.
