Baros Maldives — Kaafu Atoll, Maldives
Morning
It was two more hours until the sun would rise in the small, exclusive coral island in the Indian Ocean ringed by a sun-kissed beach and a vibrant house-reef. The guests who were staying either for their honeymoon or summer vacation in one of the leading luxury resorts in Maldives were still asleep, but one of the thirty water villas had its lights on.
Jacob Rygemann, the current renter of the only lit water villa, was on the phone millions of miles to New York: "So Romanovros Global Company will be one of the main sponsors for this year's East-West Goodwill Tennis Tournament... And to think that his son is in Japan right now. Looks like the fortune teller here wasn't cuckoo at all like the one in New Orleans when she that this year will be full of happy chances."
"Do you think Legacy will be sponsoring for Japan's representative then?" the voice on the other line asked.
"There's no word about that from the JTA as of now." Jacob replied, as he looked at the page of Japan Tennis Association on his laptop. "All that's in here right now is that a training camp for twelve days will be held to choose who will be the ones representing Japan."
"Look, I've sent you the rest of the leverage you need against Mikhail Romanovros, I already turned in my resignation letter in his hell company just tonight, so I'd like to see if my theory is right before I'm off to that bungalow in Hawaii you promised me."
"What theory?"
"If by some great cosmic miracle that this voodoo priestess you consulted there is a hundred percent sure that it's your year of serendipity, if Legacy does become one of JTA's main sponsors, then you're gonna sabotage the goodwill games so you can finally give Mikhail Romanovros the ass kicking of the century right in front of the United States Tennis Association and all of Japan, the world's third economic power. Then down goes all of the Romanovroses into ashes and Mikhail is gonna spend the rest of his miserable life in a dank, urine-soaked hell hole."
"Not all the Romanovroses, just the one that wears the ounce not the phoenix. And it's just plain rude to ruin one of the world's greatest tournaments for promising athletes, don't you think? A reporter does have time management, you know."
"But you are approaching Tsar Artur, the son Mikhail disowned thirty-two years ago because he refused to get involved his father's business with the black market."
"That's right. He's the perfect adversary against his own father since he's the total opposite."
"What about the daughter who left that family to have a future in food in Paris? She's an opposite, too."
"I'm not throwing a sheep into the lion's den, you know that's something an egghead would do."
"So you're planning to throw more lions, and that means Legacy's CEO and the other son who's in med school."
"You know full well that there's more than enough reason for them to get involved."
"What about the Daughter of the Tsar? The one who's currently carrying the Romanovros tennis legacy, is she getting embroiled in this, too?"
