"Please, fasten your seat belts. We should be landing momentarily."
I turned off my iPod and looked outside the airplane window. Sure enough, my new destination was in view. Ugh, LA. Why do we have to leave New York? Ok. Well I know the answer, because mom got a better job, duh. I know we have to move to live a more "luxurious life", as my mom told me, but I just hate all the hassle that comes with moving to new places.
I was shook out my thoughts (literally) by the friction caused by the plane landing. After the aircraft had stopped completely and the seat belt sign was off, the flight attendant opened the doors. I grabbed my black Red Cross backpack and threw it onto my shoulder, making sure to zip the front pocket where I kept my iPod. I just can't live without my music.
I walked outside the airplane, and strolled through the walkway to exit the gate. Suddenly I had this feeling of homesickness. Less than five minutes in LA and I already miss my friends...
"Hahaha! Isn't this great?" my mom threw her arm around my shoulder and smiled at me. My mom has been like that ever since dad died. Always smiling. I guess she just wanted to show me that I can still live life happy even without him there. I know she's hurting inside, and so I act like I got over my dad's death just to make her feel more at ease.
I tried to return the smile as best as I could. "Yeah... This is great".
My mom looked at me strangely. Then she got this soft expression on her face. "Whats wrong? Don't you like it here?"
Dang! She could read me so well. "Well its just... It's just that I don't like moving to other places", I stammered. "And I just really miss home. And my friends. And what about my school life? What if I get bullied? I had everyone's respect back at my old school. It won't be the same here."
She hugged me. Yep, hugged me right in the middle of the airport... The public airport.
"Uhhh... Mom?" I said, feeling really embarrassed.
"Shhh", she whispered softly. "Things definitely won't be the same here. Not home nor the school. But I'm sure everything is going to be fine. I even searched up a few dance schools in advanced to keep you a little busy. Maybe you'll find some friends there."
Instantly my ears perked up. Dance? Oh, well, if there's dancing involved I guess it can't be all bad.
I pulled away from my mom. "Ok then. I guess I can feel a little happier about this now". I smiled up at my mom, for real this time.
"Great!" my mom exclaimed, back in her perky mode. "Ooooo. I can't wait to show you our new house. It's amazing! And it's a shorter drive to your dance school than any other house I saw".
"By the way, mom. What's the name?"
"Hmm. Oh right! The Basement Dance Center".
Basement Dance Center? Are the classes in a basement or something? Oh well whatever. As long as there's dancing I don't care. Guess I'd better enjoy LA while I can.

Thanks for reading! I know it didn't really have that much Cameron Boyce in it, but we'll get to that in the next chapter. This is just an intro, like most books have, before all the juicy stuff! Haha. Anyway vote and comment if you like! (^_−)−☆
