Chapter 12: The Bash
"Roma! There you are!"
I turned to see a girl running towards me in a glamorous emerald dress that seemed to extenuate her figure and harmonized perfectly with her auburn hair.
"Hey Alexia", I smiled at her.
We were inside of the school's gymnasium. It was widely decorated with balloons, streamers, faux snow, and Christmas lights. There were food and drinks on the sides of the room and a dance floor in the center. Typical.
Alexia just grinned at me. "So where's your date?"
My smile faltered. "Um.. Lucas is by the punch table", I glanced in that direction.
"I see", Alexia gave me a knowing look before asking- "So did you tell Cameron the time?"
My head whipped in her direction at the sound of his name. "Yeah I told him. I don't know if he'll come though. He's super busy, you know?"
Alexia nodded her head. "Yeah, the famous are like that. But if he does come, what about Lucas?"
I bit my lower lip. "I don't know. I'm just in a mixture of emotions right now. I don't like Lucas as much as Cameron, but Cameron's famous and out there, there's no way he'll like me."
Alexia smiled softly. "Well you don't kn-"
"May I have this dance?"
A hand was extended towards me and I hesitatingly took it. I gave one last glance to Alexia before making my way to the dance floor.
He placed one hand on my waist awkwardly and the other was clasped in mine.
"How was your night so far?" he asked.
I glanced at him and chuckled softly, "It just got started but its pretty good so far."
We continued to dance around the floor for a few more moments before we were stopped. An all too familiar voice startled both me and my date.
"Hey, mind if I cut in?"
Before anyone could react, Cameron pulled me away from Lucas, leaving me to stare at my new freckle-faced partner.
He grinned at me as we begun to glide across the dance floor. Man this boy could dance.
His hand held mine and his face showed confidence in every way. My heartbeat increased and in that moment I felt utterly captivated. We continued to dance before I was able to form coherent words.
"Y-You actually came", I said sounding a little more breathless than I intended.
Cameron chuckled as he spun me around in his arms. "Of course. Why wouldn't I?"
"I just thought that you would be too busy".
He pulled me closer. "Well I was but I made time to be here for you", he said smiling.
I could feel the blush creeping up my cheeks as Cameron said those words.
"R-Really?" I stuttered.
He flashed a toothy smile. "Really".
As the song slowly ended, Cameron reached into his pockets and pulled out a shimmering object. Before I could react and distinguish the object, he placed a necklace around my neck.
I looked at the pendant, a beautiful red ruby wrapped in gold. I gasped in shock as I held the object and looked up to see Cameron's smiling face.
"What's this for?"
"Think of it as an early Christmas gift. I got it for you. Merry Christmas!"
My body reacted before my mind did and I pulled him into a hug.
"Thank you".
Cameron hugged me back and I sighed in happiness.
"Also, sorry that I didn't get you anything. I'll make it up to you somehow", I reluctantly released myself from the embrace.
He smiled at me, "It's fine, really".
We continued to stand there smiling at each other when I realized that we were being stared at. I looked around to see that some of the girls were whispering to each other and looking our way. It was obvious they were wondering who this new figure was so they could have more gossip to talk about. If we stood there any longer, they would have looked more closely and remembered who this new face was. Luckily Cameron took my hand and begun to escort me out of the building.
"Where are we going?"
He pulled me towards the door. "Just outside for a little air".
I followed timidly, allowing my hand to be held. As we past the assortment of chairs, I spotted Alexia giving me a huge grin and a thumbs up.
The cold winter air greeted us as we walked past the parking lot and into the adjacent field. I shivered and instantly regretted not bringing my coat. Cameron noticed this and immediately took off his suit coat and placed it around my shoulders.
I hugged the coat closer and eyed his long sleeve shirt.
"Are you sure you're okay?"
He smiled reassuringly. "It's fine, you looked like you were cold so".
"Thanks".
We sat down shoulder to shoulder on the grass and I looked up at the stars. They were shimmering and sparkling, and in my head I connected the dots. I turned to Cameron.
"Why'd you bring me here?"
He smiled at me mysteriously. "Just because".
I shook my head, sighed, and left it at that.
"You know you look very beautiful tonight", he said smirking, suddenly gaining the confidence from Luke (Jessie).
A blush flew onto my face as I looked at him in surprise.
"R-Really? T-Thanks", I barely managed to stutter out. "You.. um.. You look pretty good.. too".
He chuckled. "Thanks... Hey where's your date?" he said with a hint of jealousy.
"Well he ran off when big bad Boyce cut into our dance", I responded chuckling in a teasing tone.
"Yup that's me. Big Bad Boyce", he lifted up his arms and made himself look as big as a bear; then he started rocking from side to side.
I bursted into giggles and soon the both of us were laughing on the grass. We caught ourselves soon after and when we finished laughing, we were leaning on each other's shoulder.
After a few moments, Cameron shifted positions and stood up. He leaned slightly and extended his hand to me.
"Hey, let's go back inside".
I happily grabbed his hand and stood up.
"Sure".

Merry Christmas, yo!! I got this done hopefully during you guy's Christmas time zone. You know some people might be in different countries where the time zone is different and whatnot. So if it's after Christmas, blame the time zone cuz I know I got this out on time (for once). So yeah, this is really cheesy and a little bit more fluffy and cute (I think) than most of the other chapters. Was it too short?? I don't know. But I do know that I got Christmas presents to be chillin out with, so imma leave now. I hope you guys have an awesome Christmas and New Year. I'll see ya in 2014!!! Bye-nee!!!
