Chapter 4: Romeo and Juliet
I closed my laptop. I had just finished talking to Liz and Tohru on Skype. My New York buddies were totally shocked when I told them I met Cameron Boyce. At first, they didn't even believe me, but I told them I'll show them pictures next time we talk.
I looked up at my white bedroom ceiling, thinking about all the events that happened today. I began to drift into a daydream just as my mom called me.
"Hey, Roma! Dinner's ready!" she yelled.
"I'm coming!" I shouted back, jumping off the bed. I slipped into my pink fuzzy bunny slippers and ran down the stairs.
On the table was a buffet. There was Barbecue ribs, turkey, white rice, sushi, apple cider, and a bowl of salad. My mom really knows how big my appetite is.
I sat down at the table. "Dinner looks good mom".
She beamed at me. "You think so? That's good to hear".
After prayer, we began to eat.
"So what's up? How was school?"
"It was good. The school hallways are really confusing, but I found someone to show me around".
"That's good. I see you're making new friends already. That's my girl", my mom winked at me and dug into the rice. "And what about the dance school? Do you like it?"
I hadn't told my mom about meeting Cameron Boyce yet. I wanted it to be just the two of us so that if I start freaking out, I won't be in public.
"Do I like it?! Mom, I love it! Do you know who I met there?!"
My mom looked like she was thinking hard. "Ummm. I don't know. The dance instructor?"
"No! Well, yes actually. But no not that! I met Cameron Boyce!"
My mom looked puzzled. "Who the heck is Cameron Boyce?"
I looked at her in shock. "Who is Cameron Boyce?! Only the most amazing dancer, and actor. He's a co-star on a show called Jessie".
"Jessie? I don't know what Jessie is. I don't watch your shows, you know."
I got up from my chair. "Here, let me show you". I walked towards the T.V in the living room.
"Hopefully it's on now", I grabbed the remote and turned it to Disney channel. Coincidentally, Jessie was on air.
"Here, mom look. See him right there", I pointed at the screen.
"Ohhhh so that's him. He teaches a class? He's so young".
"Yeah, I can't believe he actually has the time for that, but he is who he is".
"And how old is this boy?" my mom asked me still watching the show.
"He's fourteen now."
"That's the same age as you! Now listen here, Roma, don't you start getting fresh with the dance teacher", she told me with a teasing tone. It looked like she was holding back a smile.
I blushed. "Mom. Seriously? No way! It's too embarrassing for me anyway". I walked back over to the dinner table and continued eating. My mom followed me after turning off the T.V.
"See, Roma? Didn't I tell you that even though we're in L.A, good things can happen? Tell me, am I right, or am I right?" my mom sat down in front of me.
"Yeah. When you're right, you're right."
