Chapter 31
“What are you doing,” Daphne asked in a bored tone.
“Checking if you have anything worth wearing. This is a big deal and you need to look your best not like a wildebeest, we don’t want to give them more things to talk about now do we,” Mira responded, still rummaging through Daphne’s closet.
“This is just an excuse to make me go shopping with you,” Daphne said, rolling her eyes.
“That may be true but you do need to get an outfit for your press conference, it’s in two days,” Mira said.
“Yeah yeah, I got it”
“By the way, has your grandfather taken care of everything concerning your release,” Mira asked.
“Yes. I am now legally a free woman,” Daphne responded with a tight smile. Obviously noticing the change in the mood, Mira decided to divert Daphne’s attention.
“Enough about that, it's time to go shopping and when we’re back you're taking me on a tour of your house because I will most definitely be spending a lot of time here,” Mira said whilst dragging Daphne towards the door.
After a thirty minutes drive the pair finally decided to visit Lupure, a brand known for its elegance and excellent quality.
A hostess greeted them at the door immediately recognising Mira as a Cy and then Daphne because of the scandal. She recognised that they were esteemed guests and aimed to treat them accordingly.
Daphne and Mira were greeted with the mild scent of flowers giving the store a feminine and refined aura. Outfits expertly paired with the right accessories were displayed on mannequins. The shelves filled with clutches and purses instantly caught Mira’s eyes as she was obsessed with them.
“Let’s check that section first,” Mira said, pointing in the direction of the clutches.
“I came here for dresses, you go ahead,” she responded.
“Are you sure”
“Yes, I'll be fine,” Daphne insisted.
“I’ll check them later, let’s get you a dress first,” Mira said, obviously not letting go of her worry.
“Mira Ophelia Cy go buy your purse. I know you're worried but I assure you I can handle myself. So go grab your baby before someone else does then meet up with me, I would probably still be shopping by then,” Daphne said with a stern face but with a glaring hint of playfulness in her tone.
“Fine, but I'll be back in five and don’t go paying for a dress without showing me,” Mira said.
“Well if you spend, let's say two hours being a purse enthusiast like last time, I'm going to go ahead with my payments and if you don’t like the dress I could always buy another,” Daphne said.
“That was one time,” Mira said, pouting.
“Right, so let’s not do it again”
“Whatever, see you in five and by five I mean FIVE,” Mira said enunciating the last five to make a point.
Daphne shook her head with a faint smile on her face as she stared at her friend’s retreating figure, knowing that she wouldn’t keep to her words.
Daphne was then immediately escorted deeper into the store’s clothing section. Her eyes scanned the dress hanging in rows on a rack as she picked out a few from time to time handing it to the hostess with a polite smile.
The two made light conversations mostly centered on the apparels in the store with the host chirping in her suggestion from time to time. Daphne was surprisingly enjoying her time and concluded she would do more of these in the future as it seems to be a stress relief, relaxing her.
