Daphne stared blankly at her white ceiling, her mind drifting as she thought about what the future had in store for her. It has been two weeks since she was released and she was stuck in her grandfather's house.
She finally had enough and decided to confront her grandfather but decided to head to the kitchen for a quick snack.
On her way there she bumped into Grey who was holding a tray of finger foods and was being followed by some maids. Luckily nothing was spilled as Grey had impeccable balance.
"Apologies Miss Ross," Grey said with a small bow.
"Daphne," she corrected, then continued speaking.
"It is alright. I wasn't paying attention. Do we have guests," she asked.
"Yes, we do," Grey replied.
"Hmmm. Well carry on I was just going to get a snack," Daphne said making her way to the kitchen.
"Young mistress allow me to assist you in the kitchen. I will back in a few minutes," Grey said.
Daphne nodded her head while waving dismissively. Grey knew the mistress wouldn't ask for help so he quickened his pace to the drawing room.
Meanwhile, in the drawing room three men were seated having an intense conversation.
"I hope we can move past this incident without causing any further damage to our families," Edward said.
"What incident exactly is it the one were my child spent two years in that filthy hole or the incident of your kin being involved or the fact that you still haven't found the culprit and you dare show up at my door," Arthur spat.
"I understand your frustration but this passive aggressiveness won't get us anywhere," Edward responded irritated.
"If you want me to move past this then fix my grandchild reputation," Arthur said calmly.
"And how am I supposed to do that," Edward retorted.
"I believe you have a brain. If you do then make use of it," Arthur said.
"We will release a statement stating that someone set her up because she had information relating to my dissapearance this way our family name won't be tainted and her reputation somewhat restored," Quinn said speaking for the first time since his arrival.
"The plan is almost flawless. Imogen is a member of the Ross family and her involvement will taint the family's name," Edward replied.
"I don't think Mr Ross will mind, he doesn't seem too fond of her or any of his descendant. In his eyes Daphne is the only member of the Ross flamily," Quinn responded.
"Go ahead," Arthur said dismissively.
"After this fiasco I hope you remember who is at the top of the food chain. Don't get carried away because we are somewhat indebted to you and I hope with this new development we can be cordial and with eachother and polite in our speech," Quinn said smiling at Arthur.
Arthur only chuckled humourlessly in response because Quinn's last sentence were actually a subtle warning for him to stop insulting Edward.
"This brat is really threatening me in my own home"
"Maybe you should have a conversation about being polite later today but with your father this time," a new voice piped up from the door.
"I apologize for intruding and not greeting properly," she said slightly shocked as she didn't think her grandfather's guest would be Quinn Cy and his father.
"How long have you been standing there child," Arthur asked.
"Long enough to know that Mr Quinn thinks being subtle about his warning is a sign of respect to the host," Daphne responded.
The two other men in the room stared at Daphne who was still standing at the door. Edward felt a faint pang of guilt as he stared at the woman who tried to warn them about Matt.
Quinn had revealed everything Mira told him and he realized if he wasn't such a block head Quinn would have been found much sooner, Mira wouldn't have been kidnapped and this young lady wouldn't have been in jail but at the end of the day he did what he thought was right for his family and there should be no shame in that.
After Daphne left Grey in the corridor she had a quick snack and decided to check on her grandfather and his guests but didn't have a chance to enter properly as she heard Quinn's last statement.
Her blood boiled at the thought of someone disrespecting her grandfather in his house so she spoke without thinking.
"Where you looking for me," Arthur asked focusing all his attention on Daphne.
"I wanted to speak to you but you're busy so I'll come back later," she replied.
"No need to come back later. I have an idea of what you want to discuss and that is coincidentally our topic of discussion. Mr Quinn has provided the solution of releasing a statement on your behalf that won't damage his or our family's reputation," Arthur said.
"So what do you think"
Meanwhile, Edward stared at the duo dumbfoundedly as Arthur completely ignored his existence and that of his son.
"I hope Mr Quinn is aware that although the Cy family has powerful PR and grounded roots in mass communication the netizens won't just swallow anything he serves them"
"Every statement he makes needs to be backed up with strong factual evidence that is accessible to them or his business will suffer a huge backlash," Daphne said looking at Quinn but never addressing him directly.
"You do not have to worry about evidence or anything at all. I will execute this flawlessly like I always do," Quinn said and unlike Daphne speaking to her directly.
"I hope you have a contingency plan incase things go awry," Daphne asked Quinn.
"Does Miss Daphne have a problem with me," Quinn asked ignoring Daphne's prior question.
"How can I have a problem with someone I just met," Daphne asked back.
"Then do you have a problem with my plan," he asked again.
"I don't. I think it is a beautiful plan if excuted correctly," Daphne said.
"Then rest assured the plan will not fall through because I excute everything perfectly," Quinn said.
"The narcissism," Daphne thought
"I hope you do. We wouldn't want your family blaming mine if anything goes wrong with your plan," Daphne said.
Daphne and Quinn have been going back and forth with eachother completely forgetting Edward who was suprised that his son who was always collected was being riled up by Daphne and Arthur who watched their exchange with pride as his granddaughter didn't falter or stutter in her delivery.
"That's enough. I'm sure Edward and his brat have somewhere to be," Arthur said.
After that the two men left after being escorted by Grey.
"That old groot couldn't even have the decency to see us out and Daphne.....she wasn't this sharp with her words," Edward thought.
Meanwhile, Quinn's mind kept drifting to a certain blonde that has been invading his thoughts very often. A slow smirk played on his lips as he remembered her sharp responses. The woman was either very brave or very stupid.
Then a question came to mind.
Was she this bold because of her grandfather was in the room or is she really this fearless?
