It was the next day and Lyric was sitting on the couch in the living room, her parents were by the door way getting ready to leave. Her brother Andrew was holding the front door open for their parents as they all exchanged goodbyes. "We should be home in five days, if something comes up we'll call." Their mother explained, her voice was nervous and unsure. It wasn't like this was their first time being left alone, but it was a big deal to their mother.
"Don't worry about us, I'll keep the hooligan out of trouble." Andrew chuckled, only joking
"I'm no hooligan, hooligan!" Lyric replied back, crossing her arms in pretend frustration.
"Okay you two, try not to kill each other." Their father smiled with a playful roll of his eyes, picking up his, and his wife's, suitcase. "See you again soon, we love you."
And just like that, they were gone. Andrew began to close the door and Lyric gave a sigh of relief. "I thought they would never leave!" She groaned, laying her head back on the coach, relaxing.
"You and me both." Andrew sighed, pulling out his phone and texting away, "You can go out and do whatever now." He added as their parents pulled out of the driveway.
"Seriously?" Lyric asked in surprise, turning her head to look at him with wide eyes. "You don't care?"
"You're almost seventeen, why should I care?"
"Because you're my older brother!"
"Even if I cared, it wouldn't stop you."
"That's true."
Andrew shook his head and laughed quietly, knowing his little sister like the back of his hand. Lyric gave a small smirk before standing up from the couch and heading upstairs, excitement was starting to bubble inside her, she wondered what would happen tonight. "Andrew, I'm going out with my friends tonight!" Lyric called down to her brother as she entered her room.
To her surprise, when she looked in her room there was three familiar figures sitting along the edge of her bed. "Y-you guys, how did you get in here?!" Lyric stammered, her heart racing as she was in no way prepared to see three people in her room.
"The window." A boy with black hair and blue eyes spoke up, pointing a delicate finger towards her open window, giving Lyric a fond smile. Zeven.
Lyrics face lit up and she threw herself at Zeven, pushing him back onto the bed as she hugged him tightly. Meanwhile Alex and August burst into laughter around them. "Zeven! You're back!" Lyric grinned, looking down at a quite shocked Zeven.
"I was only gone a few days..." He held back a blush as he looked up at Lyric, she didn't know it, but one of her best friends had mustered up a crush.
"A few days is too long for the squad." Alex allowed herself into the conversation, Lyric nodding in agreement as she slowly got off of Zeven.
"Well, are we gonna go find some parties to go to?" August asked eagerly, looking back and forth between his friends.
Checking the time on her alarm clock, Lyric saw that it was still quite early for party searching. "Maybe we should wait a bit?"
"I hate waiting." Zeven pouted, sitting back up and crossing his arms.
"Don't we all..." The three other friends sighed.
Suddenly, from upstairs Lyric could hear the front door opening as a few people walked in, talking loudly amongst themselves. "I didn't know Andrew had plans tonight." Lyric thought aloud as she walked over and slowly peeked out of her bedroom door.
