Lore: Codec is an Emanator of Erudition and member of the Genius Society who specializes in codes of all kinds. He was so dedicated to his practice in fact that he started wearing a special high-tech mask that translates the words he's saying underneath it into morse code which is what everyone hears him speaking in. Only when he cracks the code of the universe will Codec remove his mask and allow the world to hear him speak again.
