Whitney POV
So my miserable life goes on. No communication between my husband and myself, drugs control us, maybe only thing that is keeping us together. We share drugs, buy each other drugs, we make love while doped up on drugs. Both of us was failing, mentally, physically and emotionally.
It was Jez who mentioned it to us. At dinner, it was mostly quiet besides "Pass the salt" or "Do you want some pasta?"
"Okay, I am old enough to understand if things are going bad." Jez said.
I frowned and Michael put down his fork.
"What's wrong, Munch?" He asked.
"The silence. Why does it feel so cold between you? Are you guys gonna get a divorce?" Jezell asked. "Lina parents are and she is miserable. I don't wanna be like her."
"No. We are not divorcing. Every couple goes through this phase. Sometimes the other one gets on each other nerve and time is needed, that's all." Michael said.
"Well, at least make it work for your kids. Both of you guys are getting in my nerves with this." Jezell said, slamming down her fork. She got up and began to talk away.
"Jezebel Lana Jackson..." I began.
"Let her go, Whit." Michael mumbled.
I watched as my daughter stormed upstairs.
"She's right, Whitney." Michael said.
"I know." I said and put down my spoon.
"You know I still love you dearly. But I hate this. No fun, no...no...anything."
"Mm-hmm." I said.
"I refuse to keep living like this. In silence."
"Our marriage is failing, our careers are failing. What's there left to hold on to?" I crossed my arms.
"Love, Nippy. That's what's left holding on to." He said.
I uncrossed my arms. Me and Michael have been on the urge of divorce before. Drugs and cheating had a play in it. But we never was on that verge because of unhappiness. I guess we never were unhappy. But now, I can barely look in his eyes.
"We can try a marriage counselor. And not Zayne." I suggested.
"Why not Zayne? It only takes three hours to get to her, she's our daughter..."
"Hmm...fine...but we have to tell her everything ya know. The drugs, cheating..."
"I know, I know. So, uhm...I'll make the date."
Michael got up and left the table. As I watched him walk out I realized not even a counselor could bring back the love I had for Michael.
