Chapter 2

I slipped into the lacey, pink gown and gazed into the mirror. The dress was sleeveless and it outlined my body perfectly, below my waist was a layer of pink lace, it hung off the dress dramatically. I let out a sigh, as I walked down to the main hall.

This was wrong...

Aslan was captured somewhere and I was going out into a room of gentlemen ready to try and "woo" me. The very thought of this whole night sickened me to my core. Aslan needed me and all I was doing was flaunting myself to people I didn't care to meet.

Susan walked straight into me as soon as I reached the main hall. She smiled with an expression that said: "Your breath-taking!"

Her encouraging look didn't make my insides feel any better though. I walked into the main hall, it was filled with more people then usual. There were dukes, princes, and other sorts of royalty from places like Archenland, the Lone Islands, and several other places in Narnia.

I stumbled though the crowd, and tried to ignore the longing gazes. You know...when a boy stares at you, hoping you'll stare back and have a moment of attraction. The faces were starting to bother me, as Susan was leading me through the crowd to the table where all the Kings and Queens of Narnia sat.

Peter welcomed me with a big, bear hug. He seemed much better since the news about Aslan. He sat at back down and stared at his empty, golden plate setting. The thought of war must be weighing heavily in his mind.

Caspian came up next with his wife Lilliandith. She smiled at me, and I smiled back. As Caspian hugged me, I saw the gloomy expression Susan carried. Her eyes bore heavily into the back of Lilliandith's head. She was jealous as usual. I was the only one who knew.

Susan and Caspian had hit it off the first time they ever met. They were young and it was old Narnia then. I always admired their love, it had been strong. Soon after the Battle against the Telmarines. Peter, Edmund, and I even witnessed their kiss after the battle.

When Edmund and I returned to Narnia, Caspian had fallen in love with Lilliandith. After I told Susan about them. She shut me out. Then, on the day of the railway accident in London...Susan saw Caspian again and continued seeing him, married to Lilliandith.

Susan was married to a great, military general named: Geroff. Though in her heart it was clear she had married him to even with Caspian. In New Narnia, divorce was forbidden, so they were stuck like that. It seems tragic, but to me it was sourly annoying.

Edmund rushed out from behind Caspian and grabbed me. He hugged me and mumbled: Get me a good brother-in-law!"

I pushed him back with a frown and he laughed at me.

From behind Edmund came a blond elf. This was Daphney, Edmund's girlfriend, she was taller then any of the other queens. She had a pointed face, brown eyes, thin lips, and she was extremely skinny. Daphney was one word, and that was stupid...or maybe blunt...or....she's more than one word...

The way she was irritated me. She acted like she knew nothing, she constantly laughed at the most ridiculous things. Her laugh was high-pitched and unsettling. I know it seems wrong to have such judgement on her, being Queen Lucy the Valiant, but there was something else I couldn't stand.

Daphney thought she was a queen. She acted like the bossiest, know-it-all to everyone. It shook me with anger. Edmund deserved someone with a bit more of a mind.

I glanced the hall, which was elegantly decorated with white and pink streamers. Susan really worked hard to give me these balls. I sucked in my pride and walked down to the crowd of people, either dancing or eating/gossiping.
