Chapter 1
Lucy's POV
I sat in the courtyard of Cair Paravel, slightly hoping for a miracle. Susan wanted me to wear a pink, fluffy dress for my ball. As much as I hated the idea for a ball, the idea of wearing a pink, fluffy dress added to my dread.
The only way I was going to make it out of this alive was if I could wear a mask. At least in that sense, you wouldn't see my embarrassment. A sigh escaped me as I looked out into Narnia. It was beautiful and peaceful, the sun was setting in the horizon. These were the moments that made it all worth it.
The nation I'd come to love was still at its peek of perfection. If I was the only one that wasn't happy in Narnia, so be it. As long as my people were happy.
"...Lucy..." came the raspy voice.
I turned to see Cristina, she looked shaken.
I got up form my chair and walked over to her, concern ebbing its way down the core of my stomach.
"Is something wrong, dear?" I asked.
"There's a meeting taking place in the main hall right now. You should be getting to it." she said.
Looking at her one more time, I walked out of the courtyard and to the main hall, where several officials and all the kings and queens where seated.
I sat down beside Edmund and looked up at Peter.
He slowly started to speak, "I've just received word from the Lone Islands...Aslan was captured in a battle against a few rebels earlier yesterday..."
Gasps filled the room, and tears threatened to spill from my eyes. I glared at Peter but he didn't return my gaze.
"The rebels were said to be led by a man named Donvix. No one knows anything about him, but he has declared war on Narnia." Peter said, his voice starting to tremble.
"What?!" I growled standing from my chair.
All eyes fell on me, they were both sorrowful and weak. Learning about Aslan's capture was all it took to break my peaceful Narnia apart.
"This is not possible." I continued, my voice raw with disbelief."No one can capture Aslan!"
"Lu, its been confirmed by Donvix, he sent us a piece of Aslan's mane and said if we do not go to war, they will kill him." Caspian replied.
"It can't..." I couldn't say anymore.
Aslan was gone. He was in enemy hands and now my Narnia had to go to war once more. How many lives would be lost? How much damage will be caused? How bad is this war going to be?
After a long pause, I said: "Agree to war."
"Lucy.." Edmund started.
"AGREE. TO. WAR." I interrupted him. No one's eyes left me, but they weren't angry, they just shown in sympathy. How dare they be sympathetic to me? I will kill Donvix if I get the chance.
"It's not that easy to go to war, Lucy." Peter said.
"Of course it's not! May I remind you I've been in three!" I retorted.
"Aslan has saved us every time we needed him. Now, he needs us...isn't it time we saved him for a change..."
Another long pause, and all eyes turned away from me. Almost everyone looked at their feet, others stared into the distance, remembering how Aslan had saved them when no one else would.
"We can't just let him die..." I whispered.
"She's right." Rillian finally broke the silence. "We have to do this for Aslan...not for ourselves."
Peter finally nodded.
"We will declare war on Donvix and his rebels."
Sebastian's POV
Yesterday, I had seen the one person I never thought I would see. Aslan. The once mighty lion had been chained to the tomb where he had once before died. He was set there to die again. It was the most exciting and frightening thing I'd ever seen in my life.
Every Narnian loved Aslan, or so they said. The truth was, their were many of us who couldn't stand his name. He was just a "crutch" that the other Narnians used as an excuse and answer to everything.
My main reason was that, when I was growing up, my mother was extremely ill. Even in the time of New Narnia, her sickness ate her alive like a wild fire. I couldn't figure out any potion or remedy to save her. So, I prayed to Aslan, I'd heard it had saved others many times.
But...he never came...and my mother died that summer.
Every rebel had a reason to hate Aslan. We all had our causes, it wasn't fair he only saved some and not others.
As I reached my vine hut, which I called home. I started my usual tasks for the day.
About a half an hour into working on my potions I heard someone ringing my bell. It was like a door bell, except my hut didn't have a door so it just let me know if someone had arrived.
I walked out of the storage area, which was thick with strong scents, and bitter smells. I saw Rain in the entrance.
Rain was one of the strongest and youngest rebels. She had a skinny body and long brown hair. Her hair was straight and her eyes were a bright blue, she was Donvix' most violent rebel. She was only fifteen yet she could take down a whole regiment if she put her mind to it.
"Hi Seb." she smiled.
"Good Morning, Rain." I greeted and turned back to my herbs and potions.
"I brought you a letter from Donvix." Rain said.
"Alright, then." I replied.
Rain left the letter on the my work chair at my desk. The desk was the closest thing to the entrance of my hut and behind it was my book case. On the opposite side of the room was were my experimenting table was, it was covered in potions and books. Then at the back of the room was a small hammock. Next to the hammock was a small hall that led underground to my store room.
My vine hut was my own and if anything happened to it. I would be lost.
Rain went into my storage room, without an invitation and came out with a fish. Rain took out a large wand, that looked exactly like her grandmothers' and gave it a wave. A fire came out of the end and cooked the fish. She sat down at my desk to eat.
The reason Rain hated Aslan....the white witch was her grandmother. The white witch's ice wand was broken and in Cair Paravel under heavy security. This wasn't convenient, since with Rain's fire wand and her grandmother's ice wand, Aslan could be killed. No one in Narnia was aware of this. Donvix told us to keep it that way, since with both wands was when Aslan would really be in danger.
Rain ate her fish and distracted me from working. So I decided to open the letter.
It read:
Dear Sebastian,
The control over all of Narnia is underway. I have put together a small group of rebels who could sneak into Cair Paravel and steal the ice wand.
I have a task for you, though, I need you to create a certain potion. It is called the death potion, any creature who drinks from this potion will die. We are planning to put the potion in the lake by your hut. It is one of the main water supplies for Narnia, and if we contaminate it, we will be half way to victory.
I expect you to be done in three days.
Sincerely,
Donvix
I sighed, the ingredients were fairly simple. The one ingredient I had no idea where to find was the fire flower juice.I couldn't delay though, I started collecting all the ingredients I did know.
The fire flower juice would just have to wait.
