Chapter 6
Lucy's POV
The ship steadied to a stop and, the anchor dropped and the sound of shuffling feet on the deck was heard from our cabin. The steadiness of the sea outside our small porthole was very soothing, as was the rocking of the boat.
With one last snuggle in my bunk, I jumped out and put on my clothing. I slipped on a dark, gray blouse and my leather vest along with some tight, black trousers. Rain put on a similar outfit to mine and then put on some dirty, gray boots before tossing me my black ones.
Once we had been clothed, we strapped on our weapons. Around my belt I put the fire wand and my emerald sword. In my scabbard, I had put Susan's bow and arrows. I planned our weapons out so that in case we were attacked I could give Rain a weapon before she could betray me.
The last thing I did before heading to the top deck was tie up Rain's hand and attached a rope to her bind hands. She still was my prisoner no matter how lonely I was. At least I would have a companion in this perilous journey.
We headed to the top deck were the captain reluctantly stood by the small boat prepared for us. It had our necessary supplies, they would last at least a week. The captain helped me onto the boat and I tugged at Rain to get in. She climbed up board, and stared at the Lone Islands, with a content look on her face.
Maybe to content...
A sudden jerk brought me back to the situation I was currently in. They lowered us into the water, and I took up the paddles. We paddled for what seemed forever. I could see the ship heading opposite of our direction. It soon was a little dot on the horizon.
When we finally reached the shore, I got out and scoped the island. There was a large tree, it was looming over half of the island. I looked up and realized it would make a sufficient camp and it was out of sight.
I went back to the boat, where Rain was tied up and I UN cut her. She helped me carry all the supplies up into the tree. Then, I tied her to a limb in the top of the tree. Giving her a blanket, I saw that she'd gone to bed, before I started looking through our supplies for a good meal for her.
Some bread and ham was nice and fresh so I took it to her. She was already asleep so I left it next to her.
Why was I treating her so well?
The thought suddenly struck me, like an ice cold wave of reality. She was a rebel, along with that; she had a fir wand...similar to the white witches.
Could she possibly be a descendant?
Looking down at her again, I could feel my confusion going.
She was a beautiful, skilled girl. How could she hate Aslan?
He has given her so many blessings, one being that I haven't killed her yet...
Chuckling softly at my joke, I untied my hair, letting the ebony curls fall. A massive head ache was released and I suddenly felt very sleepy. Grabbing another blanket from my supplies, I curled up in a comfortable, mossy spot a branch below Rains'.
(~.~)
"Lucy." A sharp whisper broke my sleep and I let out a squeal, as I felt myself tumbling out of the tree.
Before I felt the hard earth, someone yanked me back to the center of the branch; I looked up and saw Rain. When I saw her there was a horrified look on her face as she mouthed "Look". Then, she pointed to the ground below me.
Looking down at the ground, I saw what seemed to be two, burly rebels. A metal clanking also caught my attention; a few creatures were attached to medal chains which the rebels help. Emerging from the undergrowth I soon got a clear view of the creatures. There were three and they all looked....like half-animal and half-human.
One girl looked a lot like Rain, but a few significant features stuck out, two, black cat ears, a black tail and her face structure was very cat like. The other two were smaller boys; they both had gray ears and gray tails. I studied them carefully as Rain stared on from behind me.
One of the rebels took a strong kick at the girl; she let out a snarl and long claws unsheathed from her fingers. Rising to her feet she lashed out at the rebel...big mistake.
The rebel reacted quickly, grabbing her hand and pouring a strange red liquid on it. The cat-girl hissed and screeched in pain and fury. The small cat-boys cried out yelling, "Please stop! Don't hurt our sister!"
It took a few moments for the rebels to wander away from the tree. The strangeness of those people still had me at a loss for words.
"What are those things...?" I finally uttered.
"There Cat's victims." Rain answered, simply.
"Who...or what is Cat?"
"Cat is a being who Donvex uses to keep control." Rain continued with a bored expression growing on her face.
"Why...what does he need that kind of control for?"
"When rebels realize that our fight isn't winning and that Aslan was our true leader and not all these fake gods and idols Donvex has been creating, they start to rebel and he takes then to fight Cat." Rain said, finishing it off with a disturbingly pleasant smile.
"So, your cause is dying off?" I asked.
"Duh, do you really think Donvex can capture Aslan?"
"WHAT?!" I screamed, very loudly.
"Shhhh!" Rain hissed.
"So it's all a lie then!" I came here for nothing; it was all a big sham! Of course, Aslan wasn't here! I was just putting myself in danger.
"I need to show you something." Rain whispered.
