It's been a day since Beth was reunited with the group. Her head hurts every hour. It was just a constant reminder of what happened at Grady for Daryl. Every time she stopped to make her head stop hurting, he went up to her and held her. Maggie was happy to have her sister back. She would always be by her. She would tell her about everything that happened after the prison. Beth would too, but she only went up to the funeral home. Daryl was envying Maggie. The reason why is because Maggie never saw that woman, Dawn, shoot Beth in the head. Daryl couldn't get that image out of his mind. If only he held her back, she wouldn't be in pain right now. His thought process was cut short when he felt Beth grab his hand.
"Are you okay Daryl?" She asked him with her blue eyes flickering up at him.
He looked into her eyes and similes,
"I'll be fine as long as you're here," he replied.
"Daryl, if you don't mind, what happened while I was at this hospital?" She asked.
He looked back down at her and frowned.
"Uh, I wasn't there with ya until you're last day there. Noah was though. He told me that you got him out of that place. He also said that you did whatever you had to do to get him out."
Beth just nodded at him.
"When I got there was when you got shot." He said with a tear coming down his face.
"Hey, don't remember the bad times like that, remember the night at the funeral home, that was special night for me Daryl." She said.
"That was the night you got taken from me. You thought that was special?"
"No, I'm talking about when you said we could stay there. That we would just make it work. By the way, you never answered my question of what changed your mind?"
He snorted.
"That was a week ago Beth, and walkers came flooding in."
"Well it feels like two days ago for me, what changed your mind?"
He stopped walking and turned around and looked at her.
"You. You're the one that made me see the goodness in the world." He said looking into her eyes.
"Oh," she said staring at him.
"You're the light at the end of the tunnel for me, if you go out, I'm lost. That's why I need you. You're apart of me. That's why I'm not letting anyone touch you in any harmful way." He said gruffly.
As he said that, Beth jumped up and hugged him.
"I can take care of myself Daryl, you need to realize that I won't be here one day. It may be 80 years from now, but the bottom line is that I will be gone."
"Well you're here now," he said grabbing her face and kissing her.
Once they stopped kissing, he picked her up bridal style.
"You're also gonna have to get use to me being really protective of you," he said.
Beth giggled as he carried her.
"You know you're gonna get tired eventually Mr. Dixon."
"Yeah, well you're worth it." He said smirking.
