Mr. Jeon’s heart raced as he rushed down the hallway, his arms trembling as they carried Jun’s limp, bloodied body. Guards followed closely behind, supporting Jun’s legs and shoulders. His blood had soaked through his clothes, warm and heavy, leaving a red trail along the pristine marble floor.
Mr jeon: Open the door!..
Mr. Jeon barked, his voice tight with fear.
They kicked open one of the guest room doors, and with gentle urgency, they laid Jun on the bed. His face contorted in pain, his breathing short and ragged. Blood kept pouring from the wound in his abdomen, soaking into the white bedsheets beneath him.
Mr jeon: Jun…
Mr. Jeon whispered shakily, kneeling beside the bed and clutching his friend’s trembling hand.
Jun groaned, eyes fluttering open briefly. Each breath he took seemed like a battle against death. His body trembled as if trying to hold on, but it was clear he was losing strength, fast.
Mr. Jeon's face turned pale. The sight of Jun his brother in everything but blood bleeding and barely conscious, tore him apart inside. He’d seen many things in his life, survived many battles, but this… this was unbearable.
Mr jeon: Jun, hold on. Please. The doctors will be here any second.
He said, trying to calm him, trying to believe it himself.
Just then, the door burst open and a team of doctors rushed in. They surrounded the bed, shouting instructions and working quickly to stabilize him. One of them pushed Mr. Jeon back slightly to make space.
But then Jun began to cough violently and with that came a spurt of blood from his mouth. His body arched with the effort. Mr. Jeon’s eyes widened in horror. His breath hitched, and a cold shiver ran through him.
Jun: Jeon…
Jun wheezed, his voice barely audible.
Mr. Jeon immediately reached for his hand again.
Mr jeon: Yes, Jun. I’m here. I’m right here. Don’t worry. You’ll be okay, I promise. Just hang in there.
Jun gave a weak smile, but his eyes were full of pain.
Jun: No… I don’t think I’ll survive this,
He murmured, struggling for breath.
Jun: Whatever sins I’ve committed… I think this is my punishment. Maybe this… is how I was always meant to go.
Mr jeon: Don’t say that!, ( Mr. Jeon’s voice cracked ) You can’t leave. You can’t leave us like this. How will I live with myself knowing that, even with all my power, I couldn’t save the one person who’s always been there for me?
He choked back a sob, trying to stay strong for Jun.
Mr jeon: And what about your daughter? She’s only three, Jun. Three. How will I explain to her that her father died saving me? How is she supposed to grow up without a father? She needs you! You have to live… if not for me, then at least for her.
Jun’s lips quivered as his daughter’s innocent face flashed before his eyes. Tears rolled down his cheeks.
Jun: I was a terrible father to her… ( he whispered ) I never gave her the love she deserved. I treated her like a burden. Blamed her for Yuna’s death. When all she ever did was come into this world…
He turned his head slightly, wincing in pain.
Jun: It wasn’t her fault Yuna died… It was mine. I was so blind in grief, in anger, I forgot to see that the person I was punishing… was the only part of Yuna I had left.
