She glances out at the traffic, still sitting by herself- still waiting. She tenses as she sees a car the right color and size round the corner. As it drives past the building she notices it's not the right model. A sigh escapes her lips and her body relaxes, but her mind doesn't. Thoughts swirl around inside her head in a damaging whirlwind.
Her gaze returns to the window, not really seeing anything. The traffic light changes and cars stop and start smoothly. The moving lights against the darkness of the evening hour catch her attention and her thoughts take a different turn.
What would it be like...
She stands slowly and makes her way to the door. A soft tinkle sounds from the bell above the door as it opens and closes. The wind bites at her exposed ankles and she shivers, digging her hands deeper into her coat pockets.
...if I could just...
At a steady pace she makes her way over to the street, her lips pursed. Once at the corner, she looks both ways and steps out onto the street. A horn blares and people shout, but nothing changes the scene.
...succeed.
