LaFerry One Shots

Sunflowers

Note: This has a flashback where LaFontaine goes by Susan and uses she/her pronouns.

  "Hey Perry! Try and catch me!" LaFontaine yelled, running through the sunflower field near Perry's house. It was a beautiful midsummer afternoon, the sapphire sky dotted with soft clouds and the Sun beating down warm and golden.  The two seven year olds often played in this sunflower field.

  "Susan, wait up! And my name isn't Perry!" Perry panted, trying to keep up with LaF. Running was never her strong suit. "Well, you look like a Perry to me. Therefore you are Perry," LaFontaine smirked. Perry simply sighed. "Perry, look! Wild rabbits!" LaFontaine whispered excitedly, pointing to a mother rabbit with three baby rabbits."Get away from them Susan! They could have fleas, or ticks, or rabies!" Perry whispered back. "Stop being such a worry wart," LaF rolled their eyes. They both stood motionless for a few moments, watching the family of wild bunnies, until the four small brown creatures hopped off.

  After an hour or two of chasing each other through the tall stalks, the two redheaded children laid down on a grassy patch, looking at the clouds. "Look, Perry! That one looks like a monster! Rawr!" LaFontaine pointed at a large cloud. "And that one looks like a birdy! Tweet tweet!" Perry replied, pointing at a slightly smaller cloud. She glanced at her watch. "We should get home, Susan. Mom will get worried." "OK, race ya!" And with that, the two kids were off.

   "Wow, the sunflowers look beautiful!" Perry said, looking at the giant, golden flowers. She and LaF were visiting their childhood town for the first time since they went to college. "Remember that time when we saw that family of wild rabbits here? Then we played tag and looked at the clouds," LaFontaine reminisced. "I do. It was a great day." Perry remembered. "Come on, let's go see my parents." "Race ya!" And with that, the two fiery headed college kids were off, feeling seven once more.
