I could hear another argument brewing from somewhere in the house, but chose to ignore it. Ever since we all came to the safe house there has been at least an argument a day. The arguments were usually between Kayla or Jeffrey against whoever they made mad for the day.
I listened closely, only to pinpoint who I shouldn't talk to today. Jeffrey was one, his voice speaking about rest and the other was Kayla, her voice telling him he wasn't her doctor. I could hear the hushed whispers of Siva and his girlfriend asking them to stop. Kayla wouldn't.
Once she was in an argument, whoever was in one with her, wasn't getting out until she made her point and that person "got" it. How Max got her to come with us is beyond me.
We were all in Germany. I wasn't sure where in Germany, but our safe house was located in Germany. By all of us I meant, Jay, Tom, Max, Siva, Siva's girl Nareesha, Tom's girlfriend Kelsey, my Mom, Jess, Jeffrey, Doctor Sutton, Kayla and myself. Twelve people living as neighbors. We couldn't find a home that had enough rooms without raising suspicion so we got three homes next to each other. In one house were me, Jay, Max, Kayla and Doctor Sutton. In a second, Tom, Siva, Kelsey and Nareesha. In the last house were Mom, Jess and Jeffrey.
That's how it was set when we all moved here, but it didn't stay like that all the time. Sometimes people moved around. I didn't. I didn't engage in the constant arguing. Kayla tried to start fights with me, but someone else would get angry and agrue with her instead of me. She hated me. Every chance she got, she would say something bad at me.
Shocker began to kick me stirring my thoughts to him more.
"Hello Shocker." I whispered.
My son was getting to be more active. He was gentler with his kicks now that I had been moved away from performing, away from anything hectic. Besides Kayla and the others having an argument, I was a lot more calm. I didn't need to take the chill pills anymore.
Dr. Sutton said Kayla might give birth in a couple of weeks rather than full term. Not only because she was having twins, but because of the way she engaged with everyone. She was always full of anger.
I was becoming interested in my son's half-sisters' Mom. I was curious about how the twins felt inside of her. How different they were compared to Shocker. I was concerned about the girls too because of how angry Kayla was. Even though I particularly didn't like Kayla, I was still concerned about her and the development of her children.
"Is he up again?" Jay asked.
I turned my head towards him seeing him awake now on our bed. I was sitting on the window seat. I liked the window seat. Outside overlooked the grassy backyard. I tried to imagined my son older, us playing together in a backyard. I sighed wondering if that thought would come true.
"Again? Did you feel him this morning?" I asked.
Jay laid on his stomach, his long legs dangling off the bed. He held his head up with his arms.
"I felt him this morning. Was surprised you didn't wake up or have you grown used to him now?" Jay asked.
Has Shocker been kicking at night? I never noticed. I really was a deep sleeper.
"I've grown used to him I guess." I said.
A door banged shut. I jumped shocking Shocker. He kicked me in annoyance. I rubbed the spot he kicked, sending apologetic thoughts.
"She's never going to quit is she? You two alright?" Jay asked.
"Fine. Think it's safe to go get breakfast now?" I asked.
