N:

I watched the scene unfold in front of me.

First, Jay was angry. More angry than I have ever seen him. This anger was directed at Max, who backed up slightly. Jay yelled profanities at Max who stared back with frighten eyes. I wasn't used to seeing Max look afraid.

I rocked Elliott in my arms looking down at my son a few times during the ordeal. My son was affected by the loud noise, but I couldn't say anything to make it stop. Jay wouldn't listen.

Second, the door opened without any knocking. Jay stopped with the insults to look as well as Max. I held Elliott closer to me, but seeing it was only Jeffrey and Dr. Sutton I visibly relaxed. Jeffrey went straight to Max and said things that I didn't think I have ever heard from his mouth.

Dr. Sutton, on the other hand, came over to my bed and asked to hold Elliott. I obliged and handed the baby over.

The scene in front of me only got worse. Max was now victim to obscenities from both Jay and Jeffrey while on my left side, Dr. Sutton held my son and whispered things that somehow helped the newborn stay calm. In slight joy I liked that the once grouchy doctor had a change of heart because of Elliott.

The door was left ajar and I saw Dr. Reed, the still grouchy doctor walking towards my room. I locked eyes with him as he entered. I watched the older doctor look at the scene in front of him as he stepped in.

Dr. Sutton stopped talking to Elliott looking up to the door while Jay and Jeffrey silenced. Max stood in front of them just turning to face Dr. Ross who looked at the three coolly.

"As you all know, people now know that the baby has been born at this hospital." Dr. Reed said.

Dr. Reed looked at Max, as if, blaming him before continuing.

"We need to vacate the hospital soon. No arrangements have been made yet, but Dr. Sutton, Jeffrey and myself are going to be arranging an undetected way out while you four stay here. There will be five security guards. Three outside, two in here. Any questions?" Dr. Reed asked.

"Two in here? Do they know about Elliott?" I asked.

"Yes." Dr. Reed said.

That was all he said.

Nothing more.

Jay had Elliott in his arms now and seemed to be using him as a distraction away from Max. I looked at Max who stared anywhere except Jay and I's eyes. Jay started pacing so he handed me the baby.

I put Elliott down in his cot not wanting to disturb him anymore. He's been handed around too much. Now he could peacefully sleep without movement.

It was quiet until Max finally spoke. I looked over at him and Jay stopped pacing to glare.

"I'm sorry." Max said.

"Really? What's sorry going to do?" Jay asked.

"Fucking idiot." Jay said.

"Stop. Both of you. No more cursing and no more apologizing." I said.

It was silent again so I continued.

"Jay's right on one thing. Sorry isn't going to do anything. I know you didn't mean for this to happen, but it did and we can't avoid it. I knew Elliott's existence would cause chaos. People are confused and curious. That leads to the media trying to figure it out. A competition for the first company to come out with news." I said.
