Rosa had been gazing at herself in the mirror for about fifteen minutes now and all I could do was shake my head and laugh silently as I watched leaning on the bathroom doorway behind her. Tonight was her first dance and although I thought I was going to be prepping her for this moment a little later on in her life I have to say I'm excited. I had slicked her hair up into a cute bun and she wore lip gloss that had the slightest pink tint to it, she loved being allowed to wear it. In fact Rosa loved the idea of dressing up and going out, she was her own fashionista and as a mother I tried my best to praise her creativity and all the forms that it came in. She tilted her head and gave a fierce look at herself once again while running another inspection over herself and the black and blue dress she had chosen. It was cute and simple, I marveled at her. She was once so small in my arms and now she was about to head off to her first dance, I couldn't help but to smile. "Come on now Rosa before we are late picking up Mrs. Roland and Beth." I said and Rosa gave me an odd look.
"Why are you smiling like that Mom?"
"Because my baby girl is beautiful, inside and out."
Rosa bashfully smiled at me, "Thanks Mom."
"Now come on and put your shoes on or you'll miss the dance because you're idling at yourself."
I moved to the kitchen to put anything necessary into my purse, I was a chaperone tonight and I probably was going to need more than the usual things in there just in case anything were to happen. Roman had been gone for about a week now to Brazil and wouldn't be back for another if everything went as planned. I hate when he traveled out of country for business because if there were to be anything to happen to anyone of us it would be a long ways to get to them. I sighed at the thought, Roman worked so hard though, and I would never tell him how all his trips made me feel sometimes.
Rosa emerged from the stairs and we both made our way to the car and to the Roland's home, which was about a five to ten minute drive.
As soon as we pulled up to the Roland Estate I could see Beth coming rushing out and wave towards us. I guess we all are a little excited about tonight. I parked the car and Rosa and I got out to greet Karen and Beth who were both dressed to impress.
"I didn't know this was our dance Karen." I joked lightly.
"Well you have to set a good example sometimes." Karen chuckled and I couldn't help but to laugh with her.
"OMG your mom is letting you wear mascara!" Rosa screeched excitedly as Beth batted her eyes at her.
"It's my moms, she helped me put it on." Beth smiled, showing all her teeth.
"My mom is letting me wear this." Rosa pointed to her lips and Beth's smile only grew brighter.
"It looks great!"
"Thank you, you look awesome!" Rosa returned Beth compliment.
I took another look at the young girl; Beth was a very beautiful child. She resembled a lot of her father's family from what I have been told but in looks only. She received her light hearted and kind attitude from her mother. Her blonder hair trickled down her back and she opted to put a simple silver hairband on the crown of her head to pull her hair out of her face. She wore a simple grey pocket shirt with intricate sparkles on the pocket and fabric that I am sure was to die for along with a long floral skirt and some silver flats. She looked lovely.
"Alright girls let hit it!"
I opened the car doors and we piled in to head off to my little girls first dance.

The dance was from 4 to 8:30 and we had arrived right on time. The theme was Tarzan and Jane's Jungle nights and the decorations I have to say were quite spectacular. There were fake trees that led the kids up to the entrance of their gymnasium and fake vines, bananas, animals, and trees were placed strategically around the gym so that the kids had room to dance and sit down. I must say the decorations where quite lovely and I couldn't help smile to myself at the work.
