It had been 5 months since Seldon died. 5 months since the banishment of the spirits. A while since Rebecca and Chastity's wedding. And a month since the end of freshman year. Jesse had decided to go home with his parents. Mia and Preston bought an apartment, funded partially by Dr. Seldon's will.
"To my son or son like person,
I don't know you yet, but go make a life for yourself.
-dad"
Is what it said.
The night was still, and calm, warm since it was July. Preston had his arm around Mia's now gigantic stomach. It was quiet until Mia started screaming. "Holy crap! Oh my gosh! Call your moms! Call my parents! Wait no! Call an ambulance! My water broke and I'm not ready!" Preston groggily did so. He wasn't awake enough at 2am yet to dial anyone but 911, but didn't want to disturb them, so he shoved themselves in the car. "Ah ah ah!" she continued to scream.
6am:
Mia opened her eyes once she felt the child in her arms. Was it a girl or boy? "It's a little girl," Preston smiled. "What are you going to name her?" Rebecca asked. "How about Angela?" Preston suggested. "Angela Diane Dellis," she said. "Wait but we're not married," Preston was shocked. "Or are we? Daddy, can you get the ring box on my night stand?" Her dad handed her a ring box. "Preston Richard Dellis, will you be my husband?" Mia said. Never had she looked more beautiful than now. No makeup or effort of any sorts, and a child in her arms. His child...their child. "Yes. Although I have the ring in the crib I was going to propose to you with at home," he said sheepishly. They laughed. "Preston, I don't know if i can go back to Calum Fredrick with a child," she looked sad. "Hey, I'll talk to dean Kessel and we'll work something out. "And we're happy to help out," Diane smiled, Thomas nodding.
Preston recognized the big wooden doors to the administration building. "Dean Kessel?" He asked for her. "Call me Carla, it's summer, dear," she replied. "Carla, can I talk to you on a personal note?" Preston twiddled his thumbs, and she nodded. "Mia just had the baby," he started. "How wonderful! What's the name?" Carla asked. "Her name is Angela Diane Dellis," Preston loved saying his daughter's name. "Speaking of Angela... wait continue, Preston," she stopped. "She's not sure if she can come back to school right away. The baby will need full attention. She'll have to breastfeed it for a while, after that she can have her parents help. But is it okay if she starts late?" he asked. "Preston, of course! And I think we can be a bit lax on your schedule too. Paternal leave is important too!Just make sure you and her are back full time by second semester. And what I was going to say was you got a little invite," Carla began. Preston furrowed his brow. "Your father wanted to wait until you were available to get married. The wedding is next week. Except, we must release him and Angela one last time. The invite is for you, Mia, your daughter, Chastity, Rebecca, Diane and Thomas," Carla explained. "I'll be here," Preston glowed.
"C'mon Angie! Let me put on your bonnet! It's sunny and your skin is so fair," Mia giggled. Angela was screaming and crying like- well all babies. Mia finally got it on after several trying attempts. "We have the most beautiful little girl," Preston loved his child more than anything else.
"Kutolewa nafsi kuvunjwa cha zamani kwa kuwa ni siku mpya," Preston said the release incantation. In the corner stood Angie and Michael. "Dad!" Preston cried. He hadn't seen him in so long. " I missed you," Dr. Seldon replied to his embrace. He walked over to Mia. "You're as beautiful as a bride. Well, you should be. After all it's not only mine and Angie's wedding, but yours too. " He said. "Surprise honey," Preston hugged Mia. She was so thrilled, tears started streaming. "Angie Winthrope, meet Angie Dellis," Mia told Angie. "You named her after me?" Angie beamed. "Well we will probably call her Angela to avoid confusion," Preston explained. Angie was so happy to be known for something besides murder.
The library was almost magically transformed into a chapel. Preston and Mia's friends and family were there. Angie and Seldon had just kissed and said "I do". Now, Preston was up there. He saw Mia linked onto her dad, gliding down the isle. Diane was pulling Angela in a wagon down the isle, her "throwing" flowers. Mia walked up to Preston. He didn't hear anything. All he said was, "Of course I do," followed by Mia's "I'd be an idiot not to," the kissed like they did on Halloween. Preston knew this was his love.
BAM!
The kiss was interrupted.
Serena was walking down the isle giving everyone a deathly glance. "So, I was released but not even invited? Who's gonna die now?
Everyone was silent until Kessel stood up and said, "Serena, you're always looking to be the diva in the spotlight. Perhaps try being a little quieter and maybe people won't despise you". Serena was dead silent. "This was stupid anyways. Have fun losers," she walked out slamming the doors. The "chapel" filled with giggles about Serena's stupidity. She was scarier alive.
"So, dad, this is goodbye," Preston hugged Seldon after the ceremony. "Not forever. I wrote something. Don't open it until you're kids are all grown up," He instructed. Then, all the spirits were banished until released once more.
Preston was a married man, but fatherless again.
"It's okay," Mia told him.
"Everything's okay with you," He kissed her passionately.
