"Ruby Sorceress, as the public calls the mystery woman behind the black mask, is starting to warm up to the people, unlike all those years ago; today marking the two year anniversary of her saving thousands of lives in the Vancouver earthquake..."
My head shot up and my eyes widened in alarm.
"What happened all those years ago?"
I was met with the stares and looks of none other than the Avengers and Fantastic Four, who were standing or sitting near me.
"Well good morning to you too." I muttered, lying back down on whom I'm assuming, Steve's chest since I didn't see him.
My suspicions were confirmed when I looked up and saw his puzzled face.
"Well about a year a go..." Year ago... I snickered mentally. "There was this earthquake in Vancouver, BC. They haven't had a huge earthquake in hundreds of years so no one saw it coming until it was too late.
"You guys were too busy recovering from Loki's huge and pointless attack, no offense Thor, so I managed to break into SHIELD, snag my uniform and catch a flight to Vancouver before you guys got the news. Because you know, I felt guilty I couldn't do anything during the battle." I added quietly.
"Agent Genevive, thousands of people are already dead. Retreat!" Fury commanded as we neared the city.
My eyes gazed upon the wrecked city, where buildings were destroyed; probably crushing hundreds, cracks in the roads, trapping more.
"Fury, the lives of the remaining are what count the most." I replied. "I'm going down."
"AGENT GENE-VIVIAN, STAND DOWN! YOU WILL BE KILLED! THERE IS A MASSIVE TIDAL WAVE COMING TOWARDS VANCOUVER!"
The Avengers must be in the same room as him. I sighed and nodded at the pilot, signalling him to go down. I know Vancouver Island will protect it, but Vancouver needs my help. And maybe...
"With all due respect sir, I think this is the right time for me to redeem myself. Like Cap said; I'm a monster, and I want to do something right before I pass."
"Who is that sir?" I heard someone ask.
I heard a sigh and "Someone of great importance to SHIELD who may go down today."
"Nice words." I muttered. "See you on the other side."
"Vivian you don't have enough power to..."
"I will if I give it everything." I said quietly, switching off my comm.
I jumped down and regained my balance. The earthquake just finished. Gotta make sure people are ready for the aftershock.
I used the air element to fly up into the sky, zooming over the broken city.
"GET UNDERGROUND!" I yelled, flying to the edge of Vancouver Island. "STAY UNDERGROUND!"
I saw the surviving victims run for cover through the blurry haze, and stopped at the edge of the island, where a huge wave could be seen from miles away.
I held my hands out and felt water bubbling up in them.
"This isn't going to be enough." I murmured, staring at my hands. Gritting my teeth, I held it out anyways, trying to control the wave.
I focused on making the wave disappear, collapse or something, but in a matter of hours, quite possibly minutes, the wave would hit, and more people would die.
I couldn't let more people did because of what I couldn't stop. So many people have already died at my hands.
It took so long, and my arms were aching. I could sense the sweat dripping down my face, and my mask was getting hotter.
The wave was mere minutes away, I could feel it's power. The force almost knocked me out of the sky, but I managed to stay put, even if I moved a little.
I felt a strong surge go through my body, making me grunt in pain, but I kept it strong. Finally, after what seemed like hours of focusing, majority of the powerful wave had gathered in a huge water bubble. Little waves lapped the shore and I sighed in relief.
I flew as fast as I could to the middle of the ocean, the water bubble behind me. Once I was there, I lowered the bubble and it exploded into little waves, which wouldn't affect the other countries or cities.
I weakly switched on my earpiece to hear
"SHE DID WHAT?!"
"Mission accomplished Nick." I whispered into the comm. I sighed and let myself fall into unconciousness, not before feeling the water engulf me.
I looked up from my fingers and into the eyes of my co-workers, who all looked a bit perplexed.
"So you're Agent Vivian." Ben said slowly. "That's why Fury was so upset."
"You guys were in there too?" I asked, sitting up and leaning on the couch.
"Yeah." Susan nodded. "We were called in to help clean up the mess they made." I laughed and got up, heading to my room.
"Where you going?" I heard Johnny call.
I turned around and winked.
---
"I'm not doing it for attention, and I'm not doing it for bragging rights. I think everyone has a right to know who helped save them. I want everyone to know that even in the slightest sign of danger, there will be heroes there to help. I believe they should know that anyone can be a hero, whether you stand up for the so-called wimpy guy, or help someone carry their groceries in. I know that eveyone has the potential to be a hero."
"The Ruby Sorceress has finally come out, revealing her true identity. World War 2 Veteran Alina Lathena has told the world she was, and is Ruby Sorceress."
I smiled at the TV screen as the woman went on to talk about my background and history. Hours before, I had just saved a man from Electro, one of Spiderman's enemies. The reporters came up to me and I took off my mask, and my secret identity.
"That was a good speech." Steve commented. Oh yeah, the Avengers and Fantastic Four were here too, watching the News.
I smiled weakly at him and turned back to the channel. He and I had a little... Talk, which I honestly don't want to talk about.
Let's just say Natasha's "Stalina" ship won't be sailing anytime soon.
Yeah I know, I may or may not have turned on the waterworks in my room.... Yeah... It was a flood.
There was a tap on the glass and we all turned around alarm, and I made a energy ball in my hand.
"So...." Thor began. "Who will open the door?"
No one made a move, and I shared a look with Natasha. I tossed her the gun I always had strapped to my thigh and she caught it, walking over to the door.
"λαπάδες." I muttered under my breath, jumping off the couch and tiptoeing to the sliding door.
Nat had he fun ready and I made a line with my free finger, opening the door, energy ball ready. What collapsed on the floor shocked my because the person, or rather, man, was Spiderman.
