Chapter 38

Harry(POV)

Flash Back

After watching those kids run in fear and leaving my great hiding spot that probably wasn't since they obviously found me and those were kids, not adults. 

I ran down an empty neighborhood, checking out the houses that were dark and lonely, half of them were even boarded up which was pretty silly since people like blocking the world out of their lives. 

I do that sometimes but i don't go overboard with it, seeing that there wasn't really anybody out and walking around like they would have done back in Zayn's neighborhood. I don't know how far i was from his place but i know that i was probably on the ghetto side of town. 

Shivering, a gust of wind had threatened to beat my arse if i didn't get somewhere warm and safe for the night. Thinking about Zayn back home and the way he would look at me as if he was truly in love. It's a phase with that man, i swear to god it is. 

Wrapping my arms around myself, hoping that the hoodie i was wearing would actually keep me from freezing my balls off. 

I made it to a little building, checking out the graffiti that reminded me a lot like Zayn's work place, the way the colors blended so well and how the walls were chipping. How old is this place? Knitting my brows together, I had the urge to touch it.

 I placed the palms of my hands against the cold wall, closing my eyes as i thought back at the time when i was only turning sixteen years old and my parents didn't get me shit for my birthday...Maybe that's because i was already gone, maybe that's because i was left out and not bothering to go anywhere. 

I wanted nothing more in life but to have someone treat me like they really cared. Removing my hands from the building and backing away, i bumped into someone who was staring at me with their big dark colored eyes. 

''Uh...Sorry about that mate, i didn't mean to scare you but why are you out by yourself and touching at my building? Not that i mind or anything, no one has really paid much attention to this place ever since my grandparents died in it.'' 

Gulping, i wasn't scared of this man but i was afraid of what he would have behind his back since his hands were placed there. Staring at his slightly shorter figure, he cleared his throat with a smile replacing the frown he once had.

 ''Sorry, i'm not a bad person. I can promise you that, i just never really see a whole lot of people walking around these streets alone or at least looking lost. Are you from around here? Do you need to use my phone to contact anyone or at least need a ride to get back home?'' 

He was talking too much, I hate when people do that and never giving me the chance to answer for myself. 

''Look, i'm grateful for your help and all but i don't need it. Thanks for asking and thanks for acknowledging me for some weird reason. I don't know you and i'm not going to bother standing around to actually know you, i have some place to be and it's not close to being far away.'' 

Giving in my snappy mood, he backed away while throwing his hands up in defense.  

''Sorry for trying to be polite to someone who looked like they needed help, i'm just not the type to let someone suffer out in the cold. I'm a little too friendly and i get picked on for that, some people at my college tell me that i'm going to end up alone forever since i won't be able to marry anyone without them cheating on me.'' 

He looked down, he seemed ashamed of what he was going to say next but nothing came out of his mouth.

 ''My names Dave by the way, i live a few blocks away from here. Do you want to come over and hang out or something? No one really talks to me or pays much attention since i'm the guy that should be left alone due to the fact that i lost the only family i had and because i don't like going outside when it's day time. That's only because i'm not much of a sun fan so why bother, i'm not a vampire. I swear on my life i'm not.''
