YOU GUYS ARE RUTHLESS!!

---

Hack stormed in front of me, placing the gun in the stranger's hand. I stared in awe as the suicidal man and Hack exchanged a moment of thankfulness. The stranger slowly raised the gun to his head.

"Please, don't,"I pleaded."We can find you help..."

"I don't need help... I need my family..."

And he pulled the trigger. For a moment I thought he drew a blank because he stood there for a moment. Then there was the sound of the bullet ripping through the flesh. Blood splat everywhere. It was my worst nightmare. I'd killed walkers and tried to kill my best friends, but nothing hit home like seeing someone kill themselves. He fell back, dropping the gun as he did. Blood gathered around the man. He twitched like an ant.

Chloe turned away."C-Can we g-o h-ome now..."

"Yes..."I whispered.

I hugged Chloe the whole way back, all the while watching Hack to make sure he wasn't going to kill us.

As we entered the general store, everything was a bit perky and happy. We had the gasoline just in case, but now we needed to get into the pharmacy to get the pills. Hannah and Brit seemed to be holding up fine. Amber sat with Ace and they talked about video games that they'd played before the outbreak. Chloe looked depressed, and I didn't even want to go near Hack.

I unrolled the torn paper in my pocket. My eyes started to water, seeing everyone the way they were before all this. Then, a thought struck me. I remembered that Jenny had kept having pains in her leg. We searched the entire plaza before finding the keys on a walker. We were about to enter the pharmacy when a group of bandits scared us away.

I walked to Chloe, hopeful."I think I know where the keys are."

"The keys to the pharmacy?"

"Yeah. I think they're on a walker outside. Think you could allow me out there?"

"We'll have to be quiet, but sure."

We opened the door to the area locked by bars. There was an abundance of the living dead, milling around or gnawing away at bones. It sent a shiver down my back. As I surveyed the scene, I saw the walker with the keys in the exact same spot I left it. I pointed to the walker.

"That's it,"I whispered."That's the zombie with the keys."

"Are you sure? It would be risky to go out there..."

I looked across the street."There's a TV place. I have a remote from inside. Do you know any codes?"

"I do!"Chloe exclaimed."I don't know why I memorized them, but I know them." She tapped away at the keys before pointing it at the windows in he TV shop. Static erupted from the televisions, but it only got a few walkers to walk over.

Chloe pointed out a brick outside the gates."You could smash the windows with that."

I gasped."You're right!"

I reached my hand through the bars, but it was too far."Can we open this?"

"Worth a shot." She unlocked the bars and slid them open. I grabbed the brick and chucked it at the window. It smashed, and the static blanketed all other sounds. Chloe smiled.

"Go get the keys!"

I sprinted over to the zombie. It was trapped under a fallen piece of wood. A sigh escaped my mouth as it reached out for me.

"I send condolences to your family and friends,"I whispered and took the keys from its pocket without a scratch. Chloe smiled brightly. My feet carried me back to her.

"Let's get those pills!"she cheered. Chloe locked up the bars again, and the two of us raced inside.

"We got the keys!"I cheered.

Hannah smiled up."Thank you, but took you long enough."

I shrugged off her mean comment and ran to the back room to open the pharmacy up. Amber ran after me, excited and hopeful. I jingled the keys, and then unlocked the door. It was my first stroke of luck.

And then the alarm went off.

A loud, ringing alarm that could be heard for miles. We all knew this would attract walkers from around the city. Hack ran to help me search the shelves as Chloe tried to keep the doors shut. I grabbed the pills from the back room, not caring about how strong it was or the dosage. Hack threw it to Hannah, who helped her dad.

"I might need a little help over here!"Chloe called, the doors bouncing. My legs carried me as fast as I could to get to the door. Hack was right by my side. I slammed into the door, holding them back. But the hoard just kept coming. Suddenly, a window by Hack went tumbling down, almost knocking down a bookcase. Hack reached for his gun and immediately started firing at the walkers. With our luck, a walker was able to get Chloe from behind. She let out a terrified scream.

"I'm out of bullets!"Hack yelled.

So I was faced with a decision. Save the guy who helped me, but killed an innocent person, or save the genius girl who helped me get the pills?
