CHAPTER EIGHT,
the same mistakes again

A STRAND of blonde hair covering his eye. Long eyelashes, eyes as blue as the waves. His delicate hands carefully on the handle of the knife. Her heart is as turbulent as the stormy seas, eyes stuck to the person in front of her. Jie wanted to keep the image of him forever, grasp onto his hand and make sure he wouldn't leave her sight. These feelings should've stayed away, never to surface.

He did promise to answer.

Sanji and Usopp warned them about the state of Zoro's condition despite the hope for him. They could wish and pray for his recovery, sing and speak sweetly until he woke up. It was all up to his fate. The swordsman's life was treading on a thin thread, he needed to will himself to live again. Live out his dreams and become what he wanted to be—the best swordsman in the world.

"Zoro's the strongest fighter I know," Luffy said with the smallest smile on his face, wiping the sword with a towel in hand. "No way he's gonna let some warlord guy beat him."

"Well you've gotta eat," Sanji shaped the rice ball with his hands. "Come on. If you don't want the fish, I got two-inch T-bone in the kitchen. Or, uh, maybe you're in the mood for saffron risotto?"

"I normally would get both, but I really gotta get the Waddy Itchy Monkey ready for him."

"The what?" Sanji asked, the confusion visible on his face.

"His sword," Luffy pointed at Zoro's sword, fully confident he got the name of it correct. "It's got a name."

"I think you should ask him what all of his sword's names are once he wakes up." Jie said, going along with his words.

"Yep, his swords have names." Luffy nodded.

"Oh. Why?" Sanji couldn't help but grin slightly at him. Luffy definitely butchered the name.

"He said it was kind of special," Luffy continued. "Hey Sanji, can you cook Zoro's favorite food?"

"Sure. What does he look?"

"He really likes rice balls. And beer."

What about rice balls soaked in beer?"

"I can make anything," Sanji smiled with a glint in his eye. "Just tell me what you want."

"I want him to eat so that he gets back his strength. But I also want him to sleep so that his wounds can heal. Or maybe...maybe he just needs some water. Right?" Luffy continued to speak, leaving everyone else to watch him internally struggle with what he wanted to do for his friend. "After all that fighting, he must be awfully thirsty. But, you know, he's probably also tired, so...so yeah, we should just let him rest."
