There I was, Stacy Hinojosa, laughing quietly with my best friends. They were chill, we talked for a bit, then instinctively pulled out our books at the same time. We giggled. We actually formed a book club! We loved reading, so why don't we do it with our besties? We all read in silence, with only the sound of laughing teens disturbing us. Then, I hear footsteps. They sound closer and closer. I hear some snickers and look up, only to see, the most popular kids in the school. "Leaving us alone would do everyone more good then you taking time out of your life to tease us. We won't change. It's how we are." I say, all the girls joining in for the last part, never looking up from their books. I grin slightly. "Oh no! She hit us with a word torpedo! Run! Oh wait. It does nothing but get a good laugh out of us." The leader, Zachary, says.
He was sorta cute. Other then the whole, 'beating us up' part... "You know the drill." Every one boy grabs a girl and takes them to the back of the school. Sometimes its beating us up, and sometimes its harassing is. But that only happens when the 3 leaders aren't in. Which is often, considering their social status. "Ooooooooo!" The courtyard says, as the boys drag us along. Zach had grabbed my wrist. ((Reference to my Cube high story!)) i just walked along side. Why even try to stop the inevitable? Especially if it would make you suffer worse.
When we reached the back, the boys did something unexpected. The picked us up by our legs and kept walking. "What are you doing?!?" Corinne, one of my friends asked, annoyed. "Well, we just want to take our girlfriends on a date!" Liam, the other main boy said with a fake innocent voice. "GIRLFRIENDS?!?" We all yell. They laugh. "Well yeah, we always choose you guys, and its the same pairing every time. We only give tough love." Zach laughs. How have I never noticed that my crush always got me? Must have been in lala land... Soon, they put us down, and we were told to enter a boarded up house. "Hurry. We need to be quick." Mitchell, the third main boy says seriously.
We enter through an open garage door in the back. When we enter, our 'assigned boy' looked at us. Then before I could do anything, Zach grabbed my face and kissed me. It wasn't rough, or abusive, but passionate and sweet. He moves his hands to my waist and I put mine on his shoulders. We just kiss. Finally, we release, catching our breath. "Wow." We both say. I blush and he kisses me again. "We told you we were your boyfriends. If y'all had listened, we would be beating you up." Liam giggles, kissing Corinne. Bee was the only one with a boyfriend outside of this...So she and Mitchell just hugged. I could tell they probably hung out before and were secret best friends too. We stayed there. Girls in the living room, boys in their temporary rooms.
The next day, we all walked into school hand in hand. The kids gasped, but didn't dare laugh. I wouldn't care anyway, all that mattered was that I finally found my happily ever after, after all those years searching. I must have been searching in the wrong places, or maybe you do find then only in a book.
