Aahana's pov :-
I couldn't breathe.
The garland slipped from my fingers. My heart was thundering so loud I thought it'd wake the dead.
And then—I saw them.
Two men in black suits stepped through the smoke and panic like shadows had risen from the fucking ashes.
Abhimaan walked first—sharp, lethal, his jaw clenched tight like he'd kill the whole damn world for a reason only he knew.
And behind him—my world stopped.
Reyaansh.
His black suit hugged his body like a second skin, his caramel eyes burning with something too wild, too broken, too real. His hair was longer than I remembered. There was a scar on his jaw, faint but angry.
He looked like he had fought death and come back just for me.
Our eyes met—and the world fucking collapsed beneath my feet.
His steps were hesitant at first... then determined. As if he had a million words to say but his throat wouldn't let any of them escape.
He looked at me like he wanted to hold me, yell at me, fall at my feet, and kiss the air I breathed—all at once.
Tears shimmered in his eyes, but none fell.
His lips parted as he reached closer, closer—
"Don't fucking move, Reyaansh."
I flinched.
A cold barrel pressed against the side of my head.
My scream caught in my throat.
Dhruv.
His arm wrapped around my shoulders like a snake tightening its grip, the gun in his hand trembling—but not from fear.
From rage.
"Touch her and I'll shoot her right here" Dhruv snarled, eyes wild. "You think you can just show up like some fucking hero?"
I was frozen. Trapped. Terrified.
But not of Dhruv.
Of what I had become.
Of how close I came to losing everything.
The world narrowed to the icy press of metal against my temple.
My breath hitched. My knees weakened.
But I didn't move.
Because he hadn't moved either.
Reyaansh.
He had frozen mid-step.
His face paled, fists clenched, jaw set like he was holding back a goddamn war.
And beside him, Abhimaan.
His body slightly shifted forward, one hand instinctively behind Reyaansh like he'd shield him from anything—even a bullet.
His voice came out like a fucking growl from hell.
"Take that gun off her head, Dhruv. Right fucking now."
But Dhruv...
Dhruv smiled.
That same fake, plastic smile he wore through our engagement, the one that fooled everyone.
Everyone but me.
Not completely. Not when I was alone.
Because something always felt...off.
"Isn't this fucking romantic?" Dhruv whispered into my ear, the gun pressing harder. "The perfect fairytale reunion... ruined."
"Dhruv" Reyaansh's voice cracked. Not scared—furious. "Let her go. You don't have to do this."
