***Teddy's POV***

“Dad. Dad! DAD!” I yell down the hallway.

“Coming Theseus,” my father answers as he walks towards me.

“I told you to call me Teddy, Dad. Theseus is so… ancient,” I tell him.

But as usual, it’s most likely just gone through one ear, and out the other.

“Well, Teddy, that’s probably because it is an ancient name.”

“Yeah, yeah… Greek hero… son of Poseidon… king of Athens… Slayer of the Minotaur…” I drone the history of my name for the billionth time this summer. “I’ve heard it before Dad, and I know. It has family history behind it, so it’s my name.”

“Good. Teddy. So, what were you calling me for?”

“Oh. I was wondering if we could go to the beach. Mom’s packing my bag, and I really want to go swimming before I leave for Canada tomorrow.”

Dad and I used to go to the beach in Delaware when I was a kid. It was our favorite beach to go to, and I want to relieve that memory; for old time’s sake.

“But it’s 3 hours away! And you’re going to boarding school tomorrow!” he sounds surprised.

“But, Dad! I’m going to CANADA! What kind of beaches do they have there? I’m sure they aren’t as good as Delaware. Plus, this is the last opportunity I’ll have to hang with for you a while,” I reply.

“OK,” he smiles. “Good enough for me. If we leave now, we should make it there by 11am.”

“Awesome! I’ll pack the car!”

“Maggie! We’re going to the beach. We should be back by around 8pm,” Dad calls to my mom.

“OK! Remember the sunscreen,” says Mom’s motherly instincts.

When we arrived at Whiterock Cove, we got the beach towels out of the car and found a spot on the sand.

The day was perfect for swimming; the sun was shining, there weren’t too many people around, and the water was cool compared to the heat of the day. I took that opportunity to run to the water. I launch my body though the clear, liquid and swim about a hundred meters from the shore.

I live for the ocean, it frees my mind and it’s where I feel most at home; when my body is at one with the sea, and I can push through the waves without a force holding me back.

This is probably because I’m the son of Poseidon. Yes, my father is one of the three brothers, the most powerful Greek gods of all time. Because my dad’s the god of the water, that makes me a demigod, and I inherited some pretty cool powers; aka: healing with water, changing the weather, creating water balls with my hands, making water tornados, communicating with sea creatures and holding my breath for a really, really, really long time. Plus I’m a good swimmer.

It’s easy to get lost in your thoughts when no one’s around. That’s how I feel underwater, or just in the water. I think about how life’s going to be at boarding school. It’s meant for different supernatural species, so I’ll meet people like me. I think how I’m going to miss my family, and friends back home in Washington D.C.

“I wonder what life is going to be like at boarding school… It’s meant for different supernatural species so I wonder if I’ll meet any wizards… like in Harry Potter… Hmmm, I wonder what’s for dinner… Hey, I’m hungry… Since when did pieces of coral look like fish…? Oh wait, that is a fish… Hey fishy! You know what? You’d taste good with chips… Hey, don’t use that language with me! I’m not actually going to eat you.’

See? I told you I could talk to sea creatures. And they don’t know how to take a joke.

“Teddy… Teddy… THESEUS!!!” my dad yells from the shore.

“Yeah!’ I yell back.

“Time to go! You’ve been out there for 5 hours! We need to leave now if we want to get back by 8pm.”

5 hours!

I must look like an old leather couch that’s been sat on by too many fat people.

We load the car back up and head home.

“TEDDY! IEDON! Ajax is going to be here in, like, one hour!!!”

I completely forgot that my cousin Ajax was coming tonight so we both could head off to Canada in the morning.

Ajax is like my brother – in fact, twin brother – since we were born on the same day, at the EXACT same time.

How creepy?

After 45 minutes of rushing around trying to get the house reasonably clean (my mom’s a clean freak, even though Ajax pretty much lives at my house), the door bell rings.

“Hey AJ, my man!”

We exchange a very manly fist-punch-hand-shake thing.

“Teddy! Good to see you, brother!” he replies.

“Ready to go to boarding school?” I ask.

“9 more hours until we get on that plane. I think I’m as ready as I’ll ever be.”

So, my little munchkins, how’s this cold, global-warming affected world treating you all? I recently found out that my brother, who’s younger than me, had a girlfriend. Before I got a boyfriend! How unfair! I BLAME GLOBAL-WARMING!

Anyhoo, I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I found it hard to write since it’s in a boy’s perspective and I’m a girl (no duh!), but I like it anyway. Sammie’s uploading next!

Sweet dreams, and stay excellent!
