***Amethyst POV***

@TheAmethystH: 'Just arrived at boarding school! Wish me luck xx'

I hit tweet. Instantly, I get 583 retweets, 862 favourites and 357 replies. I guess that's what you get for having 428,000,387 twitter followers.

I step out of the town car and into the cool breeze. They are other kids arriving too, grabbing their stuff and making their way to the auditorium. I do the same.

"Thanks!" I wave to my driver, to which he nods his head.

"Argh! I give up!" says a black haired girl around the same age as me as she drops her suitcases.

"Hi, are you okay? Need any help?" I say. What am I thinking? This is totally out of my character. I'm not nice to people! But no one knows me here so; I may as well try and be kind for a change.

I pick up one of her suitcases and hand her the other. "I'm Amethyst, by the way. What's your name?"

"Raven," she says, "and thanks for the help." She smiles.

"No problem. You've got a really cool accent! Are you from Australia?"

"Yeah! Melbourne! You're the first person to get it right. Everyone assumes I'm from England," she replies, shaking her head.

"That's awesome! It must have been a long flight. I came from Manhattan, NYC," I tell her.

We chat the rest of the way to the auditorium about all kinds of things. I can see Raven and I becoming good friends.

After what feels like ages of fumbling around trying to find seats and putting our cases in a pile, the orientation 'ceremony' begins.

An older man steps up on stage, and says in a grand Australian accent, "Welcome, students, to Westfield High!"

Applause breaks out among the students.

"Hey he's Australian too!" I whisper to Raven. She giggles in reply.

"I am Mr. Annetts and I'm the principal here," the man says, "Westfield High, as you know, is a boarding school for kids in year 10, 11 and 12. Over the next three years, you will learn more about your supernatural abilities, how to control them, and also how to use them, as well as continuing with your regular studies. Here we have students who are a different array of species, and whatever you are, you will definitely find your place. So, welcome year 10’s!

“What is going to happen this morning is you will all be notified of your houses, where you will live for the rest of your time here, and then you will be taken on a tour of the school. This first week is all about getting to know the school. And if you have any problems, you can talk to any of these teachers, or myself,” Mr. Annetts concludes as he gestures to three people who are standing next to him up on the stage.

They each come up to the microphone and introduce themselves.

A grey haired, elderly lady speaks first. "Hello! I am Mrs. Sunton. I teach Literature and History. It's not as boring as it seems. We cover mythology, oh, and I forgot! I also do a bit of Charms too," she says with a big smile on her face.

I can definitely see me liking her classes.

"My name is Mr. Wattkins and I take care of sports and motion," a young black haired man says.

Finally, a red headed girl who looks to be about 23 years old steps up to the microphone. "Hey. I'm Tullie. I'm going to show you how to defend yourself against dark forces and I'm also the guidance counselor. So yeah," Tullie says carelessly.
