**Four months later**

I'm so thankful to be almost be out of this ran down, smelly half way house.

These four months have done nothing but drag since I've been out and free.

It's funny though because being here in this house I don't feel like I'm out of prison just yet even though I've done all the right steps to move out of here a few months early.

Thankful to still have a couple people I can count on the outside for the last 20 years or id still be behind bars.

My parole officer just knocked on the front door asking for me and I hope it's news I wanna hear.

"Ms. Maldonado, so nice to get to meet with you again." She says cheerfully.

I smile and little and nod back at her.

"It seems like you have all your T's crossed and I's dotted. You've been able to hold a job for longer than a month since you've been out. You even went as far as to find an apartment on the nice side of town! I think this all speaks for itself. You're able to move out of here ASAP." She explains.

I sigh with relief.

"Thank goodness! This is the news I've needed to hear all day." I said almost yelling in excitement.

"Are you able to move into your new apartment yet? Do you need any help moving your things from here to there?" She asks.

"I have a gentleman I've remained friends with since childhood. He said to just give him a call when I'm ready to go." I explain.

She laughs and nods.

"Good for you, sweetheart." She says.

As she leaves I go upstairs and start putting all my things in large trash bags and call my friend.

"Hello?"

"It's time."
