Lizards on the Mountains
There'll be lizards on the mountains,
So said the weatherman
On the radio
When he warned of snow.
Blue, green scaly creatures
Of the reptilian kind,
Living statues on wind-whipped ledges,
Flicking forked tongues
At fast-falling flakes of snow.
Lizards on the mountains?
Bet that set the listeners buzzing.
Or was it only me
That didn't hear the "B"?
Most types of lizards live in warm climates. Species that do live in cold places burrow into rocky crevices and rest until the weather warms up.
