I Met a Vampire Down in Santa Carla

Chapter Twenty-One

Mom and I managed to sit down to talk. We decided moving into a new house would be best. With what money we have buying a house won't be a problem. We knew what we wanted a three bed two bath with a pool. Three bedrooms were in case we had guests. The house hunting we've been doing hasn't been the best tho. I called the investigators about the case to see if there'd been any update. Apparently, they are going to take their time. How there are more pressing cases right now. They haven't even interviewed anyone. That's the Santa Carla police for you. I decided with all the stress of the investigation and trying to move I'd throw a pool party at night of course.

Mom was all for the idea as well. When she asked why at night I told her that's just what works best for everyone. I didn't want to have the whole my boyfriend is a vampire talk. I don't think we can ever have that talk and it will be something I'll take with me to the grave. Mom spent the whole day making food. She wanted to host so badly that I didn't have the heart to stop her. She is from Texas so she made a brisket which is something she hadn't made in years. She claimed now is a good time to make one for the final pool party before it starts to get too cold out. It's just the beginning of September so we only have a few good days left for swim season anyway. 

I invited all my friends who had never been inside my house. The first to arrive was Lilly and Josh. "Holy shit. I knew Steve made money but not this kind of money." Lilly mutters looking around. "Why five bedrooms." 

"Your guess is as good as mine." I shrug showing them around. Mom greets them with open arms being a bit tipsy on the wine coolers she'd been sipping all afternoon. Lilly wore a one-piece that was red with white polka dots. Josh has on a tank top and shorts. I turned on some cd's so that we could sit around the fire pit. Next to arrive was Will and his new girlfriend Ashly. I haven't met her yet but from what I've heard she is chill. No one started swimming until Alex and Sarah got here. Danny and Maci didn't even say hi before jumping into the pool. I hear motorcycles pull up and I go out to greet the boys. Kayla had ridden in with them. She hops off asking me to show her to the bathroom to change. I lead her inside. "I take things with Dwayne are going well." 

"You have no idea. He is so sweet Rory you wouldn't believe it. Where is your swimsuit?" 

"I haven't put it on." I groan "Mom has been so hyped about having everyone over that she spent all day cooking. I set up everything and just ran out of time." There is yelling from outside. We look to see Paul had Danny on his shoulders and Marko had Maci playing chicken fighting. Kayla goes to change and I decide to go change as well. I wasn't expecting to open my door to David changing. I slam the door blushing. "I'm so sorry," I yell threw the door. He opens it wearing swim shorts. 

"Haven't heard of knocking?" 

"How was I supposed to know you'd be in my room?" I frown. "Let alone naked." 

"Where else was I supposed to change sweetheart it's not like I can ride my bike wearing swim shorts." I roll my eyes walking past him. I open my drawer finding my swimsuit. I turn to see him waiting. "Get out," I push him out. He looked very offended by the time I closed the door. My swimsuit is a black bikini top with skeleton hands holding up my boobs. The bottoms are black shorts not feeling comfortable wearing an actual bikini. I looked over the bruise I had was healing and looked much better. I go outside seeing Kayla on Dwayne's lap sitting by the fire pit. Lilly and Mom were talking and just about everyone else was in the pool. Ashly was on a float holding hands with Will and Paul, and Marko and the kids were roughhousing much to Sarah's pleasure. I grab my pool float which is a seating float that's black with a cup holder. I go away from the chaos over to Sarah and Alex. David must still be inside. 

"God I needed this." Sarah lets a sigh of relief. "Got free babysitters for life over there." I look at the chaos. Maci is currently trying to push Marko under the water with the help of Danny. Paul and Alex pulled out water guns. I didn't own water guns which means the Chaos twins brought them. I didn't feel the impending danger I was in until David tried tipping me off my float. I hold on and scream. He was laughing like a maniac. He managed to get me off. I come back up moving the hair from my face. He threw the float out.
