On the plane ride, I fall asleep for the first couple of hours. Emma is still sound asleep when I wake up. I always choose the window seat on planes because I love seeing how small everything is. I carefully scoot past Emma and walk towards the bathroom. When I get into the bathroom I look at myself in the mirror. I see the same, small, curvaceous body I see everyday. Nothing special, yet something's different about me. I can't quite figure out what it is though. I fix my hair using my fingers and dab off some of the smeared makeup on my face. Then I look at my watch. It says 2:43. I've been on a plane since 10:45 at night South Dakota time. So I can't quite figure out how many hours we've been on the plane for.
As I walk out of the bathroom I go back to my seat and see Emma awake. Clearly she hasn't been for that long because she's stretching in her seat and yawning.
"Hey." I say as I sit down.
"Hey, where'd you go?"
"Bathroom," I say, "had to fix my hair and makeup."
"Ahh." She says.
"How was your little nap?" I ask
"Good, I fell asleep a little after you."
"Okay."
I close my eyes because I just realized how tired I am.
"Ash?" Emma says.
"Hmm?"
"What are we going to do all day without a car?"
I hadn't thought of that. We don't have any way of getting places except walking.
"I don't know, we'll figure something out."
"Okay night."
"Yep, you too."
Then I close my eyes and fall into a deep sleep.
