The Car Accident

Chapter Nine

I shook my head at him and turned on the radio singing along to the radio absently as we drove back to his house. Liam looked at me and smiled and started to sing along with me as we drove bringing a smile to my face . 

For a little while, we watched movies and cuddled but soon  it was time to get ready and I groaned in protest. As Liam pulled me out of his bed reminding me I had to get ready for a stupid party that I didn't  want to go to in the first place.

I got in the shower before Liam and washed my hair leaving it fresh to do something with for once. I wrapped a robe around me as Liam jumped in the shower and I decided to wear my black and neon yellow cut out dress and a pair of neon yellow heels that I had in my car.

I left my hair down and waited for Liam to come out so we could head out. I stared at myself in the mirror not recognizing who stood before me,  so much has changed since that day I thought sighing.

Liam came out in a dark blue denim button up and black jeans with his vans looking like his normal sex god self. He absently fixed his hair until he looked at me and his jaw dropped. I blushed embarrassed as his eyes roamed my body with a intense gaze .

"My face is up here" I teased snapping getting his attention. He laughed wrapping his arms around my waist .

"You look beautiful" he said kissing my forehead.

 I blushed even harder pulling away.

 "Come on we're going to be late" I muttered pulling him away. We arrived at Jason's house and saw a party similar to the first one that I went too going on. I sighed stepping out of the car.

 "It's packed" I mumbled thinking of how many people that were crammed inside .

Liam just laughed it off and suddenly picked me up bridal style while I squeaked in surprise. He kicked open the door and everyone stopped to look at us before cheering and yelling pointing us to the room Jason was in.

We walked into the dining room and I burst out laughing at the sight of the two thrones that he waved us into to. Jason smirked and set a crown on my head.

 "Usually girls would wear the tiara but this fits you best" he said taking a picture of me posing with it. I laughed even harder when they laid a tiara on Liam's head and Jason curtsied away. I pulled Liam towards me for a kiss and felt the flash of cameras go off and that's when the party exploded.

I stumbled with Liam heading towards the front door when the distinct sound of sirens went off . Everyone froze and started running out of the house half naked and wasted. Liam drunkenly pulled me out the back door as a cop called out to us .

 We ran through the back yard and jumped the fence dodging his flashlight feeling very sober by now . Suddenly we were pulled down somewhere and disappeared from the backyards. We panted heavily as the cops ran past us, we looked over and a guy smiled at us.

 "Hi I'm James" he said.

"Where the hell are we ?" I asked confused. He looked away blushing.

 "My basement. I pulled you through the bulkhead when you were running from the cop" he said playing with the end of his shirt. I smiled at him nudging Liam to do the same. 

"Thank you " I said knowing that we would have been kicked off the team if we were caught and I would never get possession of Jess, he pointed to a set of doors .

"That's the exit " he whispered shyly and Liam pulled me away.

As soon as we got to the car he turned to me frowning.

 "I don't like him " he said as we pulled away. I rolled my eyes throwing my crown into the backseat. "He's shy and probably nerdy" I said laughing at his cute little pout and turned to look out the window.

 The sun bled into the sky and I smiled , "hi mom" I whispered I had a feeling she was telling me that I was doing good and I need to keep going .We made it back to a hotel and we crashed immediately going to bed and trying to sleep off the hangover that we were starting to feel.

In the morning I groaned my joints cracking and protesting as i got up and looked at the clock . "Shit " i yelled tossing off the dress and pulling on a pair of sweats and a sweatshirt. I grabbed my keys and bolted out if the room not bothering to tell Liam where I was going .

I made it to the daycare just in time and went inside , I looked around and found Jess packing her stuff up and I smiled as she turned around and spotted me her face lighting up as she ran to me smiling . I picked her up hugging her to my chest "did you have fun with your friend ?" I asked and she nodded "I'll tell you later " she said as we walked outside and I buckled her in her seat .

 She suddenly looked at me dead serious "Maya I love you " she said and I kissed her forehead " I love you too Jess" i said giving her a quick hug before hopping into the driver's seat .

I drove back to the hotel and I left Jess inside the car for a minute so I could get Liam and ran inside. He was awake watching tv , already dressed when I came In and frowned "it was lovely seeing you missing when I woke up " he says sarcastically but I could see how worried he was .

" Liam I had to get Jess " I said gritting my teeth together suddenly very annoyed " I don't have time for this Liam" I hissed as he sat there and stared at me . I stood there for another minute tapping my foot when I decided to just leave him if he was going to act like that .

 Suddenly the sound of crashing metal flooded my head with memories and I bolted outside. I gasped as I saw the crushed side of my car parked outside our room , a young girl sat in the driver's seat her jaw dropped as her locked eyes with mine .

I ran to the other side of the car frantically throwing the door open and sighed with relief as Jess sat in her car seat totally fine. I unbuckled her and picked her up gritting my teeth as my knees were sliced open by glass and I pulled her out .

My eyes narrowed at the girl who had gotten out of the car her hands covering her mouth "I.. I ...I so didn't mean to do that !" She cried and I passed Jess to Liam . Her thumb was In her mouth as her eyes followed my charging body towards the girl.

 " What the hell were you thinking ? Are you stupid ? You could have killed somebody ! I screamed clenching my fists seeing nothing but red, she could have killed the last person I truly would die for . She gasped "she's fine she's doesn't even have a cut " she exclaimed as if that would make up for almost killing my 6 year old sister . 

I slapped her angrily "how dare you !" I screamed. Liam pulled me away "getting arrested is not going to help you get custody of Jessica he reminded me and I growled moving away from her to look at my car.

The whole side was crushed and destroyed and I felt tears prick my eyes as I screamed up to the sky "what now!!" I screamed before falling to my knees sobbing, I couldn't take much more of this ; what's the point in trying to have a good life when all I do is get knocked over again and again !

Jess ran over to me hugging me  "Maya what did mommy say ?" She asked me and I looked at her "even when you hit rock bottom , you can still get back up " I whispered and hugged her back I can't believe she remembered that I thought .

Jess motioned for Liam who joined the hug and the tears stopped and I calmed down  "this time" I said looking at Liam "I'm not going to let people pull me down . This time i'm going to take charge and fight back. No one is going to try to bring us down ever again or they'll regret it" i said determined as i looked into the eyes of the only people that I love in this world .

They may have gotten under my skin these past two days but from now on WE'RE in charge and no one is going to try and break us again . I swear it.
