*Alexia's POV
As I escape through the window, my pant leg gets stuck on a screw sticking up from the window pane. I try to pull it out, but my pant leg rips and I go sailing over the fire escape two stories. I desperately flail my arms, trying to get a hold of something to break my fall. That's when every thing went black.
As I wake up, I look around wondering how I ended up next to the Statue of Liberty. "What?! How the heck did I end up in New York City?! One minute I was free falling from the fire escape in New Jersey, and the next I wake up on some rusty city bench in New York!" I look next to me and see this little boy staring at me. Oops, I guess said that out loud. I get up and check to see if I have any broken bones, but I only have a weird looking symbol on my stomach. The mark is a series of black lines that look like sunshine rays. They start at my belly button and expand upwards and outwards towards my rib cage. I lower my shirt, take my bag and go to the nearest hotel. As I go in, every one looks at me and starts whispering. I keep walking, too tired to care. I give the man at the counter a wad of cash and head up to my room. (I had saved up money by babysitting for months before I decided to run away). When I get out of the elevator I see this tall strange being staring at me. I try to get a better look at him but he's on the other side of the hallway. The instant I enter my room and see my bed, I collapse and fall asleep.
