The saat phere had ended. The sacred fire had witnessed their vows. Now, it was time to seek blessings.
Madhavi looked one last time toward her Mama ji—not with tears, because she knew that if she cried, he would too. And she couldn't let that happen.
Still, a gentle ache settled in her chest. She was now leaving her family behind. Her entire world—everything familiar—was slipping from her hands with every breath. She tried her best to stay composed, to hold back the tears.
Seeing her struggle, Satyanarayan called her gently with a nod of his head.
Madhavi slowly walked toward him. As she reached him, Satyanarayan placed a soft, loving hand on her head, his voice trembling with emotion.
"If you ever... feel like coming back, don't hesitate. That house is just as much yours as it is mine," he said.
He paused for a moment, eyes glistening.
"Do you remember what I told you? That when your vidai happens, I want you to leave all your pain, all your sorrow, behind. Walk into your new life with a fresh start."
Madhavi nodded slightly but avoided his eyes. She knew that if she looked at him, she would break.
But Satyanarayan wasn't ready to let her go like that. He gently lifted her chin, making her meet his gaze.
"Is this how you start a new journey? With tears? I thought you were my daughter—I thought you'd listen to me," he said with a faint, teasing smile.
That was it.
Madhavi broke down and threw her arms around him, sobbing quietly against his chest. All the unsaid emotions, years of love, and quiet sacrifices spilled out in that embrace.
Dhruv and Bholeshwar—her ever-protective, always-teasing cousin brothers—stepped forward and hugged her too, holding her close as if trying to give her strength one last time.
Everyone around watched with warm smiles. It was a moment of love, pain, and deep family bonds.
But not every heart in the Sharma family was at peace.
In the corner, stood Sudha Sharma. Her eyes quietly took in the scene—not with pride, but with something more painful: regret.
For years, she had ignored Madhavi's presence. She had never offered her the love a mother should. And today, as Madhavi left the house as a bride, Sudha felt something she never had before—an ache she couldn't ignore.
Today, the same woman who once didn't want Madhavi in her home... had tears in her eyes.
And somewhere deep within, her heart whispered:
"Was I really so cold? Did I ever treat her like a daughter?"
Sudha said nothing. She simply stood next to her husband, as Satyanarayan smiled with quiet pride—content that his little girl, his daughter in every way, was stepping into her new life.
He knew she would be okay.
And Madhavi? She knew she was loved.
Satyanarayan gently placed Madhavi's hand into Shankar's as they stood near the car, ready to leave. It was a symbolic gesture—one that spoke of trust, of letting go, and of silently asking Shankar to protect the most precious part of his life.
